Roka Opp' Sunday Market - 8 TL Lunch time Menu

For those of you who have not tried the 8 lira lunch menu (until 3pm) you really should give it a go.

When we moved to this area - I thought "can't be much good for 8 lira" - well it really is good.....

Soup followed by a choice of about 14 main courses including Lasagne / Liver & Onions / Meatballs / Chicken in Mushrooms sauce and many more ........

Today I had Cream of Vegetable Soup followed by Meatballs with fried Onions and Tomato and Gill had Soup followed by Chicken Picata (a creamy Tomato sauce) - all was superb.

Although as reported in another post the restaurant has new owners - the chef Huseyin has been there a while and spent 20 years in Europe learning his craft - he has also had his own small hotel in Calis a few years ago but prefers to let others have the pressure these days - but he can certainly cook

Love the place,the few months a year i spend in turkey i always pop in there value for money good food and really nice people running the roka these days,It was sad when they had a fire there and the lovely lady that lost her life,but they have moved on and on a weekend brian and royston sing there.Known them many years when they were up in niff great laugh,cant recomend the place highly enough.

This is the second report I have had in the last week of the value and quality of this restaurant.  We'll definitely give it a go on our return

Well the lunch time food may be good. But 4 of us went for a meal there last night, no one else was eating and we ordered just main courses waited 45min for the food to come and it was awfull, severly overcooked and greasy but we were so hungry we ate it anyway. been there 4 times in the past, and 3 times out of 4 the food has been crap we wont be going back!

Why would you go four times if the food was crap for 3 of them.? We dont go back a second time if the food is not good  the first time..All credit too you that you gave them a chance. x

Been twice to the Roka since our return after xmas away, and although these were in the evening and not the lunchtime session, we found both food and atmosphere good.

We used to have a lovely Turkish breakfast in there after the Sunday Market, but it really was not the same when the new owners took over and we stopped going    and went back to the pancakes in the market.

that's the problem, inconsistency ruins the place, we had a fantastic meal first time we went, then went again and it was bad, then went again with friends as they said they had a wonderfull meal the night before and it was a disaster, so it changed hands and we thought we would try again, big mistake!

Had two afternoon meals and two evening meals here during June. All the meals were excellent and reasonably priced. The afternoon meals were from a fixed price menu and were very good value.
Service was good and prompt.
The two nights we were in business was very slow with few customers which was a pity as it really is a pleasant place to enjoy a good meal.
