The Mulberry Tree and Iskele in Fethiye and The Nil Bar in Calis all serve lavas at night with dinner.

I am puzzled by puffy bread; I really don't see the point of it. It looks quite interesting when it arrives at the table but as soon as it is opened it collapses into a couple of flat layers. For the 30 seconds it is far too hot to touch, let alone eat. Ten seconds after that it is stale with the texture and taste of cardboard. I am surprised that so many people like it.

On our very first visit to the area, about 8 years ago, we ate in Hisaronu and were amazed to see these 'things' appearing at tables, and were speculating madly on what delights might be in them, we were very disappointed  when ours arrived,  to find nothing!! (and not very dunkable I don't think)
A basket of lovely fresh cut bread for me anytime please    :)

Hot Lavas bread is delicious with garlic butter and esme, I always go for the crispy well done bits usually underneath. I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't like it! We used to always get it at the Orient in Calis and one night many years ago Falcon let our daughter make her own and cook it in the hot oven at the back of the restaurant - she was well pleased. Got to say though you don't see it as much anymore, mores the pity!!

I agree with Chris, I love it and its gorgeous with garlic butter and that strong crumbly cheese and walnuts like they do at Iskele in Fethiye harbour.
