Cafe Soul
« on: July 01, 2013, 13:34:51 PM »
There does seem to be a recent specific thread for Cafe Soul so I thought I had best start one.

Paid a visit when we were over and was pleasantly surprised as it had got a little more expensive than others in the past two years.

No complaints this time - very nice food and decent service (even if the best looking waiter in Calis has put on a pound or two  ;)

And they have joined the discount club - if you have your badge

we dined there three times in June and the food & service could not be faulted; the grub was definitely some of the best in Calis.
Coming back to Calis late August & will be here again..

Was very disappointed last year - expensive, very average food and we waited a ridiculously long time to be served, especially as they weren't busy; well over 2 hours for our meal.
When they tried to pull us in this year, I said I'd been disappointed last summer and was told that nearly all the staff had changed over the winter, so... looks like it was for the better!

Had a very nice meal there in June and would recommend it.  Just don't sit behind one of the front tables that serves drinks, move back a little for a peaceful meal.

They had a michael Buble tribute on twice a week and got very busy these nights with a long wait for food which was only to be expected.  Everything was served piping hot if the portions were rather small. I think its monday and thursday for the show and Darren[michael Buble] is not to be missed.

The law has been changed and the bar owners have to get a licence for each entertainer they set on... As most of the entertainers don't have work permits it seems it is the end of the road for entertainment.. Sundays require a different licence. Etc etc..

To be fair the entertainers here have had a good innings as it has always been against the law for them to work anyway. They are implementing the equivelant of The performing rights certificate in England
