I am saddened but not surprised to read this, I spend virtually all summer on a boat and see things daily which worry me. all too often speedboats towing waterskiiers / ringos / sausages only have one driver which means as they are looking back at the punters they are not looking forward for swimmers, many weave in and out of anchored boats, which invariably have people swimming off them. This is not just the people providing fun rides for tripper boats, but gulets, power boats etc. I sincerely hope that the injured party makes a full recovery.

Lorraine, you are spot on, last week we all went on one of those speedboat rides where we sat on an inflateable which was towed by a speed boat. It was in one of the bays where the boat tours go. Like you say, the boat driver spends most of his time looking backwards, really dangerous. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of this poor victim.

We often note Jerry shouting and waving at other boats (generally speedboats and sporty looking ones) to warn them that if they carry on in the direction they are going they will ground themselves or possibly hit swimmers. This leads me to believe that you don't need to know much about boats to tear around the Turkish coast.

It also fits in with Linda's topic (Rindaloo) - what sort of seaside resort is it where people are getting maimed and even killed while swimming or promenading.

My heart is heavy for the family and friends of this young guy.
