Dawn Beach Fillet Steaks
« on: September 18, 2013, 23:52:25 PM »
Following a recommendation five of us from Violet went to Dawn Beach tonight for a fillet steak. Our orders ranged from me at "very rare" to a friend at "well done". Both the extremes and all in between were perfect. Without doubt the best fillet steak I've had in nine years of visiting Calis  :D Par excellence  :D

Have eaten at Dawn Beach more than anywhere else this trip - over four weeks we've tried most things on the menu; king prawns in garlic is always excellent, steaks are fabulous and chicken in lemon sauce to die for.......Eko is a great host and Mehmet is an amazing chef - the atmosphere is always good too.

I can't understand why steak is so expensive in the supermarkets and yet its so reasonable when you eat it in the restaurants, and usually good quality too.
Had some lovely steak meals in Shaka, anyone been there lately? I heard its changed hands.

Yes in the Shaka last week.  We had lunch and it was just as good as ever and the staff where very good. So, nothing changed.
Try the butcher at the entrance to the fish market, we have bought steak from him for a BBQ and it's very good (although not as good as Scottish steak) and not expensive.   Perhaps the restaurants buy in bulk from a wholesaler which would bring down the prices?
