mulberry tree
« on: September 26, 2013, 22:41:55 PM »
today we went to the mulberry tree for lunch served by jane a nice smiley ladie,we placed our order for 2 burgers and chips and salad. while we were waiting the lady, who i know owns the place gave us our cutlery and i said hello how are you. we frequent the place a few times a year she said ok and walked away  then she brought over the sauces and i then tried to get her to converse by commenting the weather is getting a bit cold "yes " was her reply ,what a sourpuss she was .if it was not for the good food you get there i would not go again.

Think your self lucky. She is usually moaning about her health or something else.. Not the most cheerful owner we have ever met but her food is good.

I mentioned this a few years back and caused another major incident. Food is great, service not. There was above mentioned woman and as I recall a youngish Turkish waiter, who left it all to her while he tinkered with his moped.

Only even been in for cake and coffee and it was very good, her home made cake is lovely.  We also picked up Greetings cards when Lynda had to close one day and the lady in the Mulberry Tree was kindly keeping all of Lynda's orders and giving them out.  However, as my husband would say "She does have a face like a Lurgan Spade" but perhaps she is happy inside?

Perhaps I'm getting sensitive in my old age, but coming from County Armagh, I found your husband's comment a 'tad' offensive!!

He comes from over there too.

My wife also, and she has used the very same phrase - I don't know of anyone from Northern Ireland who has been offended by that 'fun' phrase. Till you just now of course.

Sorry Scunner, I'm very defensive of my Irish heritage.....this is not the forum for banging on about the rights and wrongs of who did what to whom in Ulster, and I would never do so on here, but at least allow me the opportunity to remark on a comment I dislike.
