Good news maybe, 120 day to be relaxed.
« on: August 16, 2016, 18:50:15 PM »
Looks like common sense may have prevailed.

Good old Timmy boy, the British Consul in the 'Bul just tweeted that the 120 day rule is to be scrapped and first time applicants can now apply for two year RP's.

Here's his tweet: https://twitter.com/HMConsulTurkey/status/765543441929474048

I wouldn't get hopes up, but if the consulate is saying it's so, it probably is so.  More than a few folks I know will be seriously happy bunnies at this news.

Well if that's true then it's great news for first time applicants but I really hope they do the same or back to 3 years for renewals now that would be amazing.
Ours run out in October so it better happen soon.
Fingers crossed everyone !!
Thanks for posting the good news though.

Woah..hang on there..am I a first time applicant? I had a 3 year residency that runs out Feb. I have been out the country for more than 120 days, Does this mean I pay a fine and they class it as a renewal? A nd I may not get a 2 year one?

Iv never had residency Bernie so dont know for sure but I woukd have thought that no you wont be classed as a ' newbie'for residency, it will probably flag up somewhere on their system wont it?
Im sure someone with knwledge will be able to answer for you...
Great news for everyone that has residency though, sooo nice to hear something good about Turkey for a change

I could be wrong, but I don't think you can re-apply until your old RP runs out.  Instead of paying whoever it is you're paying the equivalent of the GDP of a small country to sort your residence, why don't you speak to Inspector - mibbe get him to check the status of your current RP.

You may not need to do anything (other than health insurance) until Feb 2017, and it'd just be a renewal.
