Sod it - pranged my car :(
« on: May 10, 2010, 11:13:24 AM »
Well a little shunt!

Wifey woke me up at 6-45am (from a great dream and deep sleep) to tell me it was raining and could I take her to work (just in case my son needed her car).

Got up - got in the car - waited for a lady and her dog to go past my drive - reversed off drive - bang! My neighbours visiting daughter had parked her car opposite my drive and I whacked it!

Damage to her rear door and driver's door. Damage to my bumper and rear pillar.

Now was it my fault?

She was parked opposite a dropped kerb and with two wheels on the path (illegal?) and restricting my space.

If my wife had just got in her car I would have been fast asleep in bed.

If my son had not persuaded us to put him on her insurance she would not have given it a second thought.

I'll blame all three of them I think:D ;)

Oh and the woman with the dog! Just for being there ;)

it's totally your fault unfortunately Stoop, she could have parked on double yellows but if you ran into her it's your problem, otherwise we would all be driving into illegally parked cars for dodgy insurance claims.

Actually if the other car restricts your path by inconsiderate or dangerous parking then the insurance company could actually go for partial blame. Not that I expect or want that to be the outcome as my neighbour is a good friend. He even said that he felt awful because he is currently having his drive altered and his daughter had no where else to park.

Totally my fault but that's not always how the insurance companies see it if they think they can save a few quid.

Hopefully the damage won't cost that much and I can avoid using the insurance.

My day goes form bad to worse!

Wife's car insurance renewal due to be paid Wednesday. I've had a bump! I've reported it to my insurers as a possible claim (if I don't then they might not pay out if I need to escalate it later). So I ring up to renew and tell them I've nudged the car over the road and reported it to my insurers - extra £33.77 on her insurance!

Not a lot but it's turning out to be one of those days I wish I could start again.

No new government yet but Lance's maybe be about to be deposed :).

Isn't it always the way Stoop. Great weekend and then along comes a rotten Monday.

Hope it works out.

PS I assume the great dream was sitting in Guven's with a cold beer watching LUFC demolishing Man U in the Premiership.
