Some of the people in my list seem to have the entire World in their list already. It does seem to me that some people believe that adding as many people as possible (whether they know them or not) gives the impression that they are incredibly popular.

Evidently the average user has about 190 friends. 69 billion users means we are all separated by just 4 acquaintances evidently.
