Bit too close for comfort for me!  Watched the helicopter circling last night.  What with escaped lions here and earthquakes there, no wonder I am a nervous wreck!!!

Not to mention the bear in the hut!

Their Press Office has just released a brief statement in an effort to allay the fears of local residents.

The owner of Colchester Zoo has said the photo which was taken of the animal is so blurry it would be impossible to confirm it was a lion or not.  The photo cannot be shown on TV as the Sun has apparently got exclusive rights on the photo !

Well, they've called the hunt off now after admitting it was probably just a large domestic cat. It also emerged that a picture, believed to be of the lion which sparked the police hunt, was in fact a fake.
