How about the following sentences:

I read the paper
I read the paper yesterday

Unfortunately no "standard" pronunciation as in Turkish.

Another Turkish friend speaks excellent English but can't get his head round the fact that the plural of 'information' is not 'informations'.

How does he like the plural of fish? Sometimes fish and sometimes fishes.
