Mosquito Zapper
« on: June 07, 2013, 11:49:00 AM »
Tansas are selling a mosquito zapper, not a repeller, I reckon this actually kills them. The Tansas here in Hisaronu dont stock them. But the big one in Fethiye / Calis does (just under 20 tl) as anyone tried one? My second question is where is Tansas in Fethiye or Calis? My plan so far is to get the dolmus from Fethiye and ask him to drop me off at Tansas. I fancy a spot of fishing around Calis a few drinks then its mozzie zapping time.............. Thanks.

On the Migros road going to Calis -  you can't miss it - past Zakkum - through the lights where you turn right to Kipa or left to the Tax Office - then it is on the left hand side about half a mile further up - and a 20 minutes walk or hop back on the dolmus to Calis.

Afterwards you can just walk back down the side of Tansas about 200 metres straight to the prom.  A nice walk back into Fethiye.

Does anybody have experience with these?
I've always assumed that they don't kill mosquitos because they're too small.
Don't ask me why I think that though.

We bought a plug in mozzy zapper (with a blue uv light in it) last year from Aldi.
Thought it might be just a small version of the big ones you see in butchers shops that seem to work really well.
It didn't zap a single mozzy in the fortnight - and there were plenty to be had (which we killed with a spray)
It went straight in the bin when we left.  >:(

I am eagerly awaiting a zapper which I purchased online and had delivered to my sons house ,he is arriving here on holiday in 6 days time. It looks like a tennis racket and I assume you put batteries in it,not sure if it will kill mosies yet but it will get the flies and maybe wasps too.Cant wait ,  how sad am I.

We bought one about 4 years ago in Migros.  Just plug it in, it has a blue strip light inside, it looks like a lantern. Works really well, hang it up outside on the veranda and listen to the satisfying ping as another mossie bites the dust.
Had to give it a clean out a few times as it was full of "bodies"
