Severe Weather
« on: December 05, 2013, 12:49:16 PM »
I am presently sat in work in a severe weather warning zone predicting at high tide 15 minutes ago we would be 1.2m under water.
It is quite bad out there with horizontal rain etc and a few local roads have already been closed.
We are poised with sandbags at the ready. :(

We have no electricity at home.

And yes it's because of a loss of supply rather than we not having electricity up here  ;)

Surely there must be enough hot air up there to keep the turbines turning ?  ;)

It is atrocious here... Just driven under a tree and a huge branch has scratched all the roof...Tree is now lying across the the road.. We had a lucky escape. We live in a park home.. I was scared that it may not survive.  I know conditions are really bad in Scotland.. Trains. Bridges etc. closed.. stay safe..

As someone who lives in England's tornado alley I hate these wild winds. I hope you all will be OK.

I am presently on an offshore installation (F.P.S.O. ) out in the north atlantic west of the shetland isles and we have 32 mtr waves just now. we are fairly bouncing about. weather is due to get worse for us as we head for  peak conditions around midnight tonight. lots of sea sickness and very little sleep for us. But hey someone has to do it lol.

Out on the edge of the Fens its very wild, but also very dramatic, the sky is magnificent, and the loose hay and straw are blowing across the fields like stampeding sheep.  I have just recued the dogs metal bowl from the end of the garden, and one of my wellies was in next doors garden, soaking wet!! I know there have been power cuts all over the UK, so I hope everyone has their candles ready.  Stay safe everyone xx

The good lady has been keeping herself busy darning some of my socks while the electricity has been off.
