Election Special
« on: April 28, 2015, 09:18:59 AM »
So who's voting for the Greens and really wants to live in a Communist Britain?

Some wonderful ideas on how to 'share the wealth'  as they say  :)

The Greens would also stop us flying to Turkey for our holidays, even if we could get to the Airport on our bikes. ;D

Thing is you can put out any fantasy manifesto when you know you have ZERO chance of getting into power.

Lots of young people going to vote for them but most, I suspect, have never bothered voting before so it shouldn't affect the outcome.

It does show, however, that at least the young of today are starting to think about how the country is run and what they would like to change. That's a good thing I think. They just need to get into the real world and realise that left wing polotics (this far left especially) will never work.

So that is all the manifestos except two - which are simply a collection of lies.

Actually I don't believe that at all; just going for a cheap laugh. I know for whom I am going to vote: Kerry McCarthy. I think she is a very good constituency MP, always replies to communications from Hilary and I (and since we aren't shy reticent types there is no shortage of these). Often she is already taking action on the issues we raise, or she will look into the matter and get back to us. She has done pretty well over the last five years so I hope she gets five more.

This type of thinking is apparently quite common. If asked about politicians in general people will tell you that they are a bunch of lazy, scheming charlatans who are only there so they can get their nose in the trough. But if you ask them about their own MP then it is a completely different story. "Oh no, my MP is quite different from that; you can talk to them in the surgery or get in touch with them on email and they do their best for you". Quite so. Kerry will get my vote.

My local MP in England was invisible - I never once saw him anywhere in the constituency in his 20ish year stint. Nor once in parliament or on TV or news in all that time. Lazy Tory.

3 months after moving to Scotland my Westminster MP knocked on my front door to introduce himself and ask if there was anything he could perhaps help with.

We're quite lucky in South Thanet; we have Nick Fromage standing against The Pub Landlord as well as the normal candidates.  It will be interesting to see how many votes Al Murray gets.  Never forget the classic song from the Gonzo Dog Doo-dah Band. "No matter who you vote for, the Government always gets in"

We live in a country area about 1/3 of a mile from the main road.  In 32 years of living here we have had one candidate at our door and he was someone we knew anyway. He was a Labour Candidate who later changed to SNP.   One benefit of living in the country, not being pestered by candidates.
As Alex Salmond was our local M.P for 23 years, we never saw him once. I had an Antiques Shop and so did many of my local friends.   I heard from his Gardener that he had a house full of Antiques.  He never supported the 11 Antique Dealers in my area.  There is now just one dealer left.   So in 22 years of my business I never saw him neither did any of my friends in the business.  Incidentally, I specialised in Scottish Antiques and sent parcels all over the world, particularly to Australia, America and Japan.
