end of the dvd sellers ?
« on: January 14, 2016, 15:43:51 PM »
Nothing lasts forever... I  get the feeling the DVD`s   sellers  in the area are going to have a tough time this season... not just because of the drop off in visitors,   more that technology has moved on....  more and more people now watch new recent movies  and old ones through websites ......  such as `rainierland`  and one or two similar web sites .  Excellent quality, very recent movies,  or hundreds of older ones    ( all the latest that the DVD` guys  acquire )  and free  !!!... so who`s going to  buy  12  / 15  DVD`s for a tenner ?      In fact all one has to do is to go on to google... type in   eg    `Spectre`  the full movie .....  and  its up and running ...  so end of an era for the DVD  guys on the horizon  ?

For those of us with summer properties equipped with DVD players no internet etc it's still a cheap easy option

And for many local folk on minimum wage I'm sure they aren't streaming Netflix

Seeing as audio cassettes were only phased out about 5 years ago I think the dvd sellers will be around for a few years yet...

Strange how things change though, I've got music in my car, on holiday, in six rooms of the house, and I will never have the need to buy a cd again!

In relatively recent years have spent a small fortune here on DVDs. With the purchase of my new all singing all dancing smart TV box (I may have mentıoned this exciting procurement once or twice before) I can find everything I want and more. The box soon paid for itself.

With Netflix now available in Turkey as well as other sources for watching stuff for free I can see that the market for DVDs will quickly disappear.

They're better quality than copies available in my part of the UK and I always get a good deal.

I once mentioned to Senay at the Saturday Market that I couldn't find any proper traditional

Turkish music CDs. A few hours later he called round to my place and gave me 3 fantastic CDs

that he'd burnt off for me, and wouldn't take any money. I still use them in my motor when I need

  a Turkey fix.
