Yes Im also pro caneing provided it is controlled, ie a visit to the headmasters office after discussion and not the teacher allowed to just thrash out in frustration
I do remember my Geography Teacher Mr Thomas( Verdin Grammar Winsford ) who had a blackboard rubber attatched to his briefcase by a long chain, this was so that he could throw it at a pupil and then reel it back in! Whenever a member of another classroom came to borrow the rubber he would hand over his briefcae
 I did see some bullying of pupils in my old school, it seeemed at times that one boy in the class would be picked on by a certain teacher just because the Teacher was in a mood.

OK Tinkerman, if we're going to take this seriously it is a rather large and complex topic to be dealt with in a forum posting. Nevertheless, I'll start it off with a few thoughts in a new thread and see if it leads to a rather more constructive dialogue than this one (my own comments no doubt having contributed to its unconstructiveness).
