You think Findus' Horsemeat Lasagne is bad?  You should try their quarter pandas.   ;D

Not too fussed about the Findus lasagne in the freezer but I'll give the coq au vin a miss.   :-[

I have to confess to eating haggis regularly, so the contents of a Findus lasagne are the least of my worries!

In any case, horsemeat is a bit more tasty than beef.

Putting all the jokes to one side, it seems criminal action was at work here so charges will be brought.  It's fine it you want to eat horse meat, but people do not want to pay for beef and get horse.
I think the worrying thing about it all is something I heard last night about test being made on the meat to see if a certain drug is in it, a drug given to horses and not good for humans.  This is where serious issues come into play.  Beef, lamb, pork all has very stringent testing before it's used as food, illegal horse meat does not.
Now we have a horse in our stable and field and I see how lovely Hugo is I would choose not to eat horse.

"Room for a pony..."    sorry Jacqui, couldn't resist!  ;D ;D ;D

We have cows and sheep nearby and it doesn't stop me eating beef and lamb and I don't mind the thought of horse meat really but your point about the testing is spot on - this meat shouldn't be there so who knows what could be in it.

Bluewise,  We also have cows, sheep and wild deer and don't mind eating any of them, but Hugo is a pet and I would not eat my pets.
Don't mention pony... Gemma would have another horse/pony/clydesdale in a minute.. She is horse mad, even rang me last night to tell me to tape Martin Clunes who was doing a programme about his heavy horses.. There is no cure for my D.I.L.

If we're talking 'joking aside' - where did all these horses come from? We must be talking tens of thousands of them - someone must have wondered or noticed we are thousands of horses missing!

It's a sad fact Scunner, there are horse auctions here and in Ireland every week and thousands are bought (some for as little as £2.00 each) for slaughter.  Lots are ex racing horses, some are pets that no longer can be afforded.  It costs from £2,000 per year to keep a horse. Lots are treated in the most terrible way before they are killed and  are slaughtered in little pens two at a time.  I know as Gemma is passionate about horses and I have seen the videos and the articles.
