Title: Singing Today
Post by: Colwyn on October 16, 2012, 15:45:44 PM: Everyone has gone out this afternoon leaving me to cook an increasingly ambitious pork casserole. I am listening to early Kinks whilst engaged in this pleasant task. On comes "Dead End Street". And I wonder - who sings for today? Who is, or can become, the musical social reporter - the Ray Davies - for these recessionary years, for our grand Olympic Summer, of the fall of famous celebrated figures, and so on. Any nominations?

Hoi Sandgrounder in this thread Colwyn was asking about the people of today, not Bragg and Costello who were the product of the 70s ....... when they were first making hits was nearly 35 years ago!!!!

Interesting connect though between Bragg and Ray Davis, they both wrote songs that were hits for the great Kirstie MacColl, New England and Days respectively.
