Today we visited the pottery and met the owner and artist Mr. Emrah Berk. Very nice handmade subjects of different sizes to find there either made from clay or calabash. ( "su kabagi" in turkish , don't know the exact english word , but found this on internet : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calabash ) , it might be what I mean.
Also very nice lightning decoration used with tealights or electric bulbs.

Su Kabagi translates literally as Water Squash but most people would know them as Gourds. They grow well in the Kaya Valley and several village houses, ours included, have gourd vines growing on their terraces.
You can sometimes buy these, and other natural ornamental gourds, at the Friday market in Fethiye.

Thank you for the information Alan.

You can also buy the decorative Gourds in one of the gift shops in Fethiye.
Small drill pieces are used to make the holes for the design that are then filled with little plastic coloured beads. They can look really effective as garden lighting.
