Or something similar... http://www.dealtastic.co.uk/ipad-iphone-to-hdmi-connector-watch-movies-play-games-and-surf-the-net-on-your-tv.html
Freeview up here is a very restricted range of channels, unlike much of the UK. I have Freesat but not in all rooms. What I am looking to do is have the facility to watch channels we don't get on Freeview in good old STV central (like ITV4 for footie) but I wondered if it works with things like Filmon, TVcatchup, iPlayer, 4OD etc
So any experiences of iphone/ipad to TV via HDMI leads much appreciated - thanks!

Sort your aerial out and you'll get ITV4. The transmitters for most of Tayside changed last year.

Yes I know but I have a huge hill between me and you. The local aerial/satellite man said you have to be high up to get the full range from "your" transmitter, I tried full arm length standing on the kitchen table but sadly must report that is not quite high enough.

Keith, I have a Apple Tv which allows me to mirror my iPad/iphone on the TV so yes, I can us TV catchup etc and all wirelessly
The connectors work similarly (albeit with a wire to the tv) but you need to check exactly what areas of your iPhone it will allow you to view as I don't think it is all. Also what version of iPhone it works with.
-
Btw, with the Apple TV I get Netflix, YouTube and various other TV options
-
You need the 4s to mirror to TV... but that works great.
ipad 2 or new ipad does the same.
Best is jailbroke apple tv2 loads of content hours of viewing.
good luck.

Do you mean 'mirror' of 'airplay'? If you are mirroring you basically just see what the phone has on it's screen - so that can be quite a small picture. If you use airplay you will get a much better picture but it doesn't work with ITV1 or Sky Go (barstewards!). You can mirror ITV1 though and it covers about 50% ofthe screen.
I use airplay to watch some channels I cannot get on my TV package plus for youtube, itunes, photos etc. Jailbreak wise I agree with Barry - masses of stuff to watch (even Turkish TV if you know where to look and you want to watch it ;))
-
...but it works with filmOn and TVCatchp so you get all the channels

Stoop, on your reccomendation I purchased a jail broken Apple TV from the UK a few weeks ago. It comes with a lead that attaches to the device and power point but not the lead that attaches to the TV. Can I buy the lead here in Fethiye and could you possibly advise me exactly what to ask for. After reading the instruction manual for setting up the TV I looked on line for the lead but it appeared to give several different options depending on your set up? I would be most grateful for any advice - thanks.

Heather....if your TV allows for a HDMI connection then that is what you need, a HDMI cable
-
The Apple tv only has a HDMI port so that is what you want
HDMI lead

This is part of my confusion and also the reason for the question. I have the iPhone 3GS and my question is, with a lead such as the one I linked to, will filmOn & TVcatchup work?
I bought the Apple component cable set and next to nothing worked on the telly so I took it back :-\ - also, with my iPhone and a lead as linked to - will I get full screen on the telly? Oh, and also, can I play games and use the telly as the screen?
Ta!

I think that hose adapters only allow you to show your picture gallery and maybe YouTube on a 3GS. Not TVcatchup or the like
-
Sorry Steve, do you mean the one I linked to or the Apple component cable I mentioned? I know for a fact that the component cable doesn't let you do much - would this HDMI one be similar?
-
Both I think. It's a limitation of the iPhone 3gs
-
Ah well, another idea bites the dust :)

Thank you Steve for the information and Keith obviously time to treat yourself to the I Phone 4!... ;)
