Wish I had known about this before we went to Istanbul and other places.

Thanks for sharing. Will pay for itself in no time at all!

Good share. Thank you.

We also read the article and so today set off with our residence book in hand to the Fethiye Museum. Two smiling ladies greeted us on reception and when I asked to buy the Muzekart, they said it was only for Turkish citizens. I asked that they please check as I understood that the rules have changed, they said that the card application paperwork they have clearly states Turkish Citizens only and so refused our request.
The museum was interesting and well worth the 3 TL entrance fee.

According to The Land of Lights these passes for residents and they are available in Kaya koy at the ticket office for 30TL.
-
I also tried to buy one at Topaki Palace yesterday, they hummed and harried a bit but then accepted that I could buy one but wanted my ID number which of course I didn't have on me so it was 25 lira to get in and then a further 15 lira to see the harem.

John emailed Fethiye Times and has just received a reply from Pat Temiz.(which was forwarded to him/ her via Fethiye times with the comment another email for your comments...)
Pat Temiz has citizenship and was in Patara, and showed their Muze Kart and was asked if the other people in the car had residency permits as they could get a Muze kart.
But they didn't. Apparently the person in the box was keen to issue Karts and according to Pat if you have a residency permit with a 99 number that should be the key to getting a kart.
so this seems to be the whole basis for this Muze kart story
-
In the Land of Lights it says you have to have TC citizenship, which if you only have residency this in going to rule you out
-
LoL states Residence Permit here,

Friends of mine got theirs from Patara three weeks ago. They only have residency but had no problems.
-
Right Bee we are going to get one next week lol
-
Well we will give it our best shot and nicest smile and report back, yeah or nay
-
We also tried to buy this card at Fethiye Museum and were refused, we have RP's and Yabanci TC Kimlik numbers, but the receptionist showed us her "rules" as well.
We wanted them as we were about to go on a trip to Istanbul, while there another couple in our party tried at the van outside Topkapi Palace and were asked for kimlik numbers which they didn't have with them, and we had left ours in the hotel safe - durrr :-[
-
I know this has been covered before, but can someone remind me how to find your kimlik number? We are overnight in Istanbul on our return and if time permits I might have another go. One of these cards will save you a fortune in Istanbul alone.
-
Hope this helps, here is the link to find out your Identification Number

I have read the Land of Lights report on this today and it seems that the only place to obtain the Muzekart in Fethiye is from Kaya open museum. You will need 30tl for the annual subscription, a passport sized photograph and your Ikamet number. Your Ikament number appears on the first page of your Resident's book and always starts with 99..... . You should take along your residents book for confirmation.
-
Bubsmum, I beg to differ, our RP's issued in August 2008 have an Ikamet Tezkeresi number starting with 45-***** (+5) more digits, they do NOT have the Yabanci Kimlik number starting with 99.
Maybe newer RP's now show the kimlik number but when we acquired ours you had to get the 99 number afterwards.

Somebody somewhere must have decided (correctly) that a discount card for historical sites would be a good idea. Well done to them. So why is it so bloody difficult to get one!!!
Typical Turkey...
-
Ok, all sorted HOORAH !
4 of us got cards this afternoon from the ticket booth at Kayakoy
Just showed our residency book, kimlik number.
They can either use your photo from a driving licence or from your residency book, no need to take a separate photo.
-
Great stuff Linda, we are going on Thursday
-
Hoorah - success at last. Will get ours next year now ready for a bit of "site" seeing. Thanks for the update.
