20% tax on income above £9,440
40% tax on income above £41,451
The same applies to interest on savings (and pensions)
12% NI contributions on income above £7,748
20% VAT on most items purchased
63% tax and duty on every litre of petrol
38% tax and duty on each pint of beer
Stamp duty (between 1% and 7% on properties above £125,000)
Council tax ?
Car tax ?
Airport passenger duty ?
And the remainder is all yours !!!!
(But then they want 40% of your estate valued above £325,000, having already paid tax accruing it)
Unfortunately you will then have to wait longer to reap the benefits of your contributions
(Angela’s state pension age has moved from 60 to 66 and mine from 65 to 66.)
And this country is still in the poo (despite all that 'thieving' !!!!)
And don't start me on the weather - its bleeding raining again :(
PAH !!!!!!!
-
Lol :D
-
Ah well, at least we've got an honest government. ;)
-
Honest my arse !!!!! ;)
-
Everything in Turkey is tax free of course ;)
-
Bad day Kevin? ;) ;D
-
As long as pension income is tax free and I only pay 15% tax on my bank interest I don't care !!!
We won't have a car and as Angela will testify I don't drink alcohol (much) ;)
-
Bad day Kevin? ;) ;D
Ha Ha !!!! every day at work is a bad day when you are as close to retirement age as I am ;)
I'm A happy bunny 'glass half full' person really - but this place does get me down sometimes !!!
(And before you say it Scunner - I'm sure Turkey will get me down at times - but at least I won't be working !!!)
-
Well I can sympathise with that Kevin, and just to make you feel even better, I officially retired on 6th January this year at 61 years and 11 months! Got the pension and bus pass to prove it! OH can retire in May when he's 65 (we're actually out in Calis on his birthday) and he's just weighing up his options regarding pensions etc. We won't be retiring to Calis, we'll be staying here (bad as it is at times) but spending more time over there and also discovering lots of new places (like visiting youngest daughter and her husband in New Zealand) and re-visiting old ones. :)
-
Enjoy !!!!!
-
Oh we intend to!! ;D
-
Kevin :) Nervous Breakdown Seek Help :)

Scotland will flourish by the sweat of labour
The strength of our will and the force of our mind
Forget the old battles, those days are over
Hatred corrupts and friendship refines
Let the Scots be a nation proud of their heritage
With an eye to the future and a heart to forgive
And let us be rid of those bigots and fools
Who will not let Scotland live and let live
Let us govern over country wisely and fairly
Let each man and woman work with a will
And Scotland will flourish secure in the knowledge
That we reap our own harvest and ring our own till
And let us be known for our kind hospitality
A hand that is open proper to friends
A hard working people, proud and unbending
Scotland will thrive and win out in the end
Scotland will flourish by the sweat of labour
The strength of our will and the force of our mind
Forget the old battles, those days are over
Hatred corrupts and friendship refines

I believe every word of that other than I believe we can, and should do it within the UK.
Kevin
PS Whilst I believe the term "Geordie" or "Cockney" to be a term of "endearment" I hate being called a "JocK" with a passion :)
Signed: A member of the most patriotic nation on the planet I know and damned proud of it

Scottish People are Called Jock, since it is a nickname for John and is used to represent everyman. This word was first used in the 18th and 19th century. Scottish people tend to think that this name implies 'God's children'

You don't say - I am indebted to you. I never knew that :)
