Title: Driving a Turkish-owned Car
Post by: WordBird on September 05, 2014, 06:43:14 AM
Apologies if this is answered somewhere in the forum and it's my rubbish use of the search facility that hasn't allowed me to find it, but.....

Is there any way that I/Mr WB can legally drive a car owned by a Turk, for example by getting licences translated/notarised, added to insurance etc? Or is being named on the log book the only way?

As long as the correct insurances are in place and your licences are done then you are ok to drive a Turkish owned car. Its the other way round that causes a problem, say you are the owners and a Turkish person wants to drive it, big problems if caught, also a big problem here if you are caught driving a car owned by a non Turkish citizen ie an English friend lends you their car and you get caught or have an accident. No No No.

Thank you. :-)
The car is owned by a Turkish friend of ours and he does have insurance; I guess we need to just check that his policy will be ok to cover us (once we have our licences translated/notarised).
