We have now signed off with FETAV the final total raised from our 2015 Race for Life event.
I am delighted to tell you that Race for Life 2015 raised a grand total 44,290 lira, we spent 5,972 lira in staging the event and so are left with a net total of 38,318 lira to use improving local cancer services.
This by any measure has been a spectacular success and I want to thank each and every one of you who helped us raise such an amazing total and of course the committee who put together one of the best organized events possible.
So, what happens next?
We have an appointment with the head of Cancer services at the Devlet hospital where we will discuss the most efficient use of the funds raised, I guess the only criteria is that we do something so that people can see that a real improvement has happened directly as a result of your efforts in the Race for Life. We will of course keep you informed on what we decide to do.
As for the future, we are trying to assemble the 2016 Race committee, also we have been given contact details from other areas of the country for people wanting more information with a view to possibly staging their own local event. So although it is not yet absolutely certain whether Race for Life 2016 will continue, whatever happens, nothing can take away from what you have achieved in creating the largest ever cash total raised for charity from a single event in Fethiye.

As I said elsewhere, astonishing, simply astonishing.
Everyone involved should be immensely proud of what they have achieved and can sit back and say "Yes, I made a difference."
