We have just gained 300sq'ft of living space thanks to Oguz, cousin of Ahmet of All Aspects. He has just enclosed our terrace with smart roll and zip up plastic walls and windows and curtains - he has done a brilliant job! We can now utilise our terrace at all times of the year and we have not lost our lovely view of the bird reserve. Pete and I were out on the terrace having our evening meal tonight and the temp was 22.5c (outside was about 17c not counting the windchill).
Why didn't we think of this before? I guess because we never thought of it, until we saw the new awning on the Forum bar. Ours is his prototype for terraces/balconies and for sure it was not an easy project. Oguz took great pains to get it right - wooden battens and screws rather than staples and we are totally amazed at how good the job was and the extra dimension it has given us to outdoor/indoor living. We could even put some one up on the terrace if necessary as it can now be mozzi proof and totally private - Pete worked it out we could sleep 12 people there if we had enough beds - though it would look like a dormitory!!!!!
Thanks Oguz and team for a great job

Chrissie, I too noticed the 'enclosure' to the forum and it also got me thinking! Could you give an indication to the cost as I intend to try and 'sweet-talk' Johnny into having the same done at ours, at least that way he could eat dinner on the terrace in the evening without being paranoid about the mossies!!!
Much love

It sounds fantastic Chrissie, cant wait to test it out!!
-
i think friends of ours paid about 300£
for their balcony
-
It was about £600 but it is for a terrace 30' long by 9' high. We've also had some side panels done. We are told that the Forum Bar awning has 20m of zips but ours has 40m! so all in all well worth the money.
-
It sounds like a good investment as it gives you so much 'sitting outside' time!
-
Any chance of you posting a photo of it. It sounds good but a photo will let us know if we would also like to have one.:D 8):D
-
Thanks Chrissie, will certainly be giving Oguz a call!!!
Best Wishes

Sorry Cheryl,we are unable to upload our pictures from the camera at the moment but you are quite welcome to pop round and see if you are out in Calis this year. In the meantime if we can eventually get the photos sorted we will e-mail you one.

Chrissie, what a lot of visitors you are going to have!!!!

We have been measured up by this man for ours (sorry, not sure which one by name) and it will be fitted when we go over in 2 weeks. He is very professional. There is also the option of having curtains so that people can sleep out there in the summer.

Not 100% certain but I recall that you need Belediye permission for such an enclosure without which if a complaint is made you could be made to take it down. Might be worth checking before you spend the money. :)
-
No already checked out - no problem as it is not permanent and there are quite a few around where we live. Some also have them as roof enclosures where they were not allowed bricks and mortar.

Just found the source of the information on this: It was Fethiye Times website legal questions and answers dated 12th August this year. I have to say that reading it again it is not crystal clear. I am sure you are right Teresa in what you say but for peace of mind I would double check preferably with someone independent like Legal Solutions. £600 it a lot of money if it does go pear shaped, and the fact that other people have done it is not a guarantee it complies with any regulations. :)

Thanks for the info but we checked with the belediyesi themselves (buildings dept) Ciftlik. Also ours is not £600 that is Pi55y's but either way I agree it is money and others may wish to to check it out as Ciftlik may well be different to Fethiye.
