Hi everyone,
I'm showing my total ignorance here, but do I need a landline here in Fethiye to use a skype phone? I have wireless internet access via my neighbours modem which I share the cost of every month. We have been waiting for a landline since October 2006, but still no new lines available for Tasyaka and Telecom have no idea when I will be connected! Thanks, Cathy

Not an ignorant question Cathy

All you need to use skype is a broadband connection, you don't physically need the modem/router in your house. You can buy little skype phones in most computer shops, even headphones and a little computer microphone would do the job well.

Actually, I was thinking about this, and in your situation if you started using Skype, you can also buy a UK telephone number from them - then, people who don't have Skype (family members and friends in the UK) can dial your UK number on their 'normal' home phone and get through to you in Turkey.

That means, if you use your mobile for local calls, you actually wouldn't need a Turkish land line at all :D

It also means, people in the UK who phone you on your UK number only pay the price of a UK call, not full BT international rate  :)

Thanks Scunner,
I'll look into getting a skype phone and number from the UK. Trouble is I'll probably have more questions as to how to set it up then! Cathy

The John Lewis link no longer works.  Just wondering if you could let me know which Philips phone you recommend. :)
