4 Recep's place  (fish market)
5 Seckin's (not used the loo's -  having to use the subways in London every workday they don't sound very appealing  :)

Many thanks for all the restaurant suggestions.   Scunner mentioned in his post that this information would be good for 'newbies' and so it is, its always good to have recommendations BUT where are these places? we are only familiar with the ones close to us on Calis prom.   Do you catch a dolmus to Fethiye and ask where Ocakbasi is ?  How do you get to Sunset Restaurant on Sovalye Island.    :-\

Based on the places we went to last year our list would be :-

Harem
Orient
Serkul 1
Megri Lokanta
Arena (Fethiye) *
Merhaba  *
Ocakbasi  (on Scunner's recommendation)

* Both of these restaurants have changed chef/ownership so we have no idea whether they will be as good and as reasonable as last year.   We will find out shortly.

For Ocakbasi

Heading from Calis towards Fethiye where the 'new' prom is, with the sea on your right hand side, you will see the round monument with all the black heads on the sea side, and at roughly the same point there are trampolines on your left hand side. Turn left off the main road immediately before the trampolines (so the trampolines are now to your right) and Ocakbasi is the first thing you see on the left.

It's genuine traditional Turkish fayre, cooked right in front of you - Adana kebap is sensational if you like things a little spicier. The waiters speak decent English, anyway you can go and point at your meze's if you prefer, and ask for a selection of different kebaps if you want a varied main course. They will bring them one at a time, so it's like a number of courses rather than a plate of different things. You can also have mixed kebap, which is a plate of different things  :)

Ocakbasi Kebaps (and my mum [:o] ):

places where we always seem to go back to, so must be good:
1. Harem (for steaks)
2. Nil Bar (for good atmosphere and good value)
3. the fresh juice and toastie stand, (as you come off water taxi, turn left and it is around the corner). If you can sit on those tiny seats and get up again without assistance you're doing well!!
4. Cafe Inn (new favourite this year for Sunday roast)
5. 1881. only been once but always wanted to go back. Does anyone have the number, cos they pick you up I think.  Turn rt at beach and keep going a couple of miles or so.
6.Soul Bar (especially when Dennis is singing, usually a Thursday night)
7. Any soup kitchen at 4am on the way home!
we havent tried much in Fethiye, which is a shame. Will definitely try Ocakbasi next time.
