The link above seems to indicate there were problems in New Zealand with an orange account and that people "lost money". Googling has produced no further info though. Anyone heard of this?

which link Carpete [?]

I just found this on another forum while researching ING

"ING are issued a banking license and access to preferential fractional deposits with the countries central bank in return they offer preferential rates on savings products and pass on details of these deposits to the tax man.

Not a problem for most ex-pats banking in Turkey but if you are tax resident for income purposes then be careful".

Alper I posted the link because it had more info about the account generally than was available here in this topic.

For example it wasn't obvious to me before that this account allowed instant access to my money and yet still offers a preferrential rate of interest.

I am planning to come and see you on the 6th or 7th July.

I am assuming that internet banking is available - I had intended to make an online transfer  not carry cash on the streets.

Nichola
Anyone with a bank account here has to have a tax number to open it.
That means tax is paid on your intrest. If you are a none tax payer in UK no problem, also Turkey is a member of the (double tax countries) which sould mean that you dont have to pay tax in UK if you have already paid it here.

Mind you, saying that, we are in ------------- arn't we
