Hi
We are in turkey at the moment. Have been trying to renew house insurance through Garanti bank. Spent three hours there so far still no joy. Please can anyone recommend insurance supplier including earthquake insurance.  Also can anyone recommend a good bank.
Thanks

Hi,

I have been with HSBC in Fethiye and also in UK and have only had great service from them.

We are insured with Intasure from the UK they cover all contents buildings and earthquake extra cover however you must still have the compulsary DASK insurance locally, this can be purchased in many offices in the town but I beleive you will have to have tax numbers and passports to purchase.

There is a thread on this site with details if intasure and a link to their site.

I hope this helps,
Mark.

ING Bank without doubt - queues minimal most of the time & unlike many of the banks they only have one series of numbers for the queue, so you know exactly where you are. Staff more than helpful with fairly basic English spoken by the staff in the main banking hall, but two upstairs who both speak very good English

We get all our insurance through Baris. He has moved offices now & is above the new BIM in Calis. Can definitely recommend him.

We get ours through Engin at Fethiye Property Services.  He just brings it over to us, so no hassle.

You could try Intasure (UK based). I have not used them other than to quote. They were as competitive as the Turkish quote we had.

You can get info on Intasure here: {A Link to an old CBF topic was here - no longer available}13034 - they are very good, especially where the Turkey based ones sometimes come up short - actually paying out - but remember they provided holiday home insurance, they do not provide cover for homes that are permanently inhabited.

They also provide public liability insurance which you really should have if you rent your property out.
