Calis area

We all enjoy different areas that we either live in or just visit but cannot understand what anybody sees
In Calis.
Is it just the people or am I missing something about the place.

Well, where shall I start?
It's a very welcoming place, especially if you have visited a few times.  Your face, and sometimes your name, is remembered and you are greeted like a friend.
It's very easy to get around either walking, taxi, water taxi or on the Dolmus and is close to Fethiye, Hisaronu, Olu, Kaya etc for a change.
There's an abundance of choice of places to eat.
There's a mix of loud and quiet - whatever suits.
Lots of places to stay to suit most tastes/budgets
It's been exceptional value for money this summer for tourists
It has a fabulous goldsmith who can make just about anything at very reasonable cost (yes, I'm still gushing over my new ring(s)
It feels very safe

Is that enough for starters?

What bluewise said!
For us a lot is down to the people. First morning walk down the prom stopping off to chat to everyone that we've known over the years. By the tme we get to Aroma it's time for lunch, then bavk again  ;D
The new kordon between Calis and Fethiye makes a lovely walk and the water taxi the best value, most relaxing boat trip you'll find anywhere.
The food is fabulous, in most places anyway.
We do visit other places but always go to Calis at least once a year. We know we will relax straight away and have a great time.

I think anyone who loves Calis could write a list of things we enjoy about the place but for me there is also an indefinable quality that makes me feel relaxed and “at home”. I also felt the same about New Zealand and Ireland so if you don’t get bitten by the Calis bug then that’s fine, more room for us. Personally I don’t like Greece.
