Post by: kenkay on October 16, 2016, 10:09:24 AM
If a British couple are to marry in Turkey do they have to be in the country for a specific minimum number of days before the wedding can take place? Asking on behalf of a friend.

Yes they do, my son and his wife were told this.  I can ask them, but I think it was about 5 days as you have to get paperwork done.

Don't think there is a minimum residency time, paperwork now is done in Fethiye at the Turkish office, not at the consulate, whereas before a trip to the consulate in Antalya was necessary. Paperwork now is obtained in the uk and bought to Turkey. The office, I believe, is only open Monday to Friday, but the wedding date can be booked beforehand and paperwork formalities done after arrival.

Also, still a trip to the doctor for signing of medical form but this is just a formality and can be done in a few minutes. Doctor for this at the old Devlet hospital in Fethiye, opposite the big mosque.
