Title: Changing the constitution

I have been reading The Turkish Daily News and it now seems inevitable that there will be a constitution change therefore giving Erdogan exactly what he wanted.. To lead the country... I was under the assumption that this would never happen... Please can someone explain this to me?
In simple terms please..

The MHP showed their botty to the AKP, and the wee fella knew exactly what to do.

Many years ago Erdogan, talking of Ataturk and Inonu, said that the current constitution had been "written by two drunks" so why shouldn't he, as a pious Moslem, rewrite it.
