The view in photo 1 looks like the place in photo 8

And the new build in photo 2 must be by the same builder as the one in photo 9  ;)

I felt sad to see such a difference. Wish it were still as you found it

Crimsonpoppy, you are so right, we wish too. If not us buying then someone else! We remember in 2003 meeting a young Turkish Uni Graduate, Elvan, who was just starting a garden business and we used her services to start our garden, that is another story. We remember her telling us exactly what was going to happen, in not just Ovacik but Hisaronu, Kaya, and Fethiye, our interest was Ovacik and she has been correct in her perception in most aspects, quite amazing.. The only thing that we could say in return was that one day here Supermarkets would rule the retail sector, She was sceptical. We asked many question of people who had made the step years or months previous. That interest rates were remembered being at 75% though at 2002 was in the twenties. Our Highest interest at the bank was 20% but of course it wouldn't last nor will the 9% of today. Everything was so cheap back then eg light fittings from the now Fethiye Light Centre for all the house was around £200

All our Turkish neighbours from 2002 are still here, some have become very good friends.

Ovacik has been our home for half the year since 2003 and we have always and still love it and all its environs. UK is our birthplace we are British and have always loved it too it gave us what we have.

We accept Turkey for what it is good and bad, as we do with the UK, trying not to compare too much. The health value is not measurable, we find it much cheaper to live here than the UK, mainly use of utilities, council taxes, and the Turkish way of feeding ourselves.

How long will it last for us? Who knows.   :)   :)  Alan & Pauline

We definitely remember it all very well Alan and they brought back memories of why we bought our villa in the first place. Thanks. Sue
