Help with Guided Walking?
« on: August 15, 2013, 16:59:24 PM »
We have a place in Ovacik and come over about 3 times a year.

When the weather is not too hot we like to go walking, but have exhausted most of the walks we feel capable of navigating ourselves, and wondered if any of you know how we could arrange for a guide to take us on some new walks.

We have done these a few times:

* Kaya to Olu Deniz (both ways)
* Af Kule
* Kaya to Fethiye
* Kaya to Ovacik
* Uzumlu to Cadianda
* Ovacik to Fethiye (Goat track)
* Lycian Way from Montana Pines to Kabak

We did Af Kule with KKOB (and others) but believe he is back in the UK.

We are out again in September and do want to do some walks if it is not ridiculously hot.

Any ideas or suggestions for "guides" would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave Nicholson

Hi David,
Looking at your list, we have done much the same routes as you, and I agree that walks are very hard to plan without maps. we have our favourites that we do every time, but always keen to find new ones. I'm interested in your Uzumlu to Cadianda trek,  I'll have to look into that. We also go to Dalyan occasionally, and there is some good walking around there.

Yep, I'm in the UK. But, if anyone cares to fly me back out to Turkey I'll guide them around a few more hidden paths.  ;)

Angela,

This link will take you to the help I had with finding the Uzumlu to Cadianda walk:
http://www.calis-beach.co.uk/forum/uzumlu_discussion_forum/walk_uzumlu_top_cadianda_41916.msg245020.html#msg245020

As always, forum members were both a mine of information, and very helpful.

Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks also to "DaveKaren" for the Seabreeze suggestion - I have looked at the website, and intend to call in there to ask what they can offer when we come over.

When the weather cools down a bit the Kismet Wacky walks will continue.
We go on a Wednesday at midday, take a packed lunch and walk for 3 to 4 hours.
It's a great way of exploring without the fear of getting lost.
We have done some lovely walks around Citlik, Kargi, Yaniklar lake, Fethiye headland, Ovacik to Fethiye, Hisaronu to Kaya to Olu, Hisaronu to Kaya and on to Fethiye, Babadag road to Sundial, and many more that I've probably missed.
Love the sound of the Uzumlu to Cadianda walk, will see of we can do this one week.
If you add Kismet Wacky Walkers on Facebook walks are posted on there.
There's also a man called Bob Davis, he does a Wednesday walk too, same sort of length and they even go now!
Maybe someone will have contact details, if not again he can be found on Facebook.
