Title: Erin Spot
Post by: sadler on July 18, 2006, 22:11:09 PM
Went to Erin Spot because of the web site and the remarks about the shop.
Found the proprieter to be extremely rude and the goods nothing more than just about sellable here in England.  Was very disappointed.  Will not be giving him my patronage in future.

Rude,That's a first.
I agree you would not buy most of the stuff for your own home,
but for a holiday home it's suffice.

Bekir has NEVER been rude to us, quite the opposite and as for 'suffice' the white goods are as good as anything you could buy in Currys in the UK. In fact our washing machine broke down on our last visit, and although it was over 12 months old it was still under guarantee. Bekir arranged for the engineers to come out the next day and they arrived on time, fixed it and it didn't cost us a lira. Bekir is a real gentleman and his after sales service is first rate especially compared to the UK. Some of the furniture is so so, but we have no complaints at all.

I was referring to the furniture rather than the white goods,
He's always been pleasant to us, nothing has been to much problem and is always willing to exchange goods if it's not suitable when you get it. :)

most white goods are servicable, but the industry is controlled by one family (manufacturers) and are subject to any service / product when in a monopoly. the job staff have always been polite to me even when rushed off their feet.

Have to agree with everyone else on this.
Bekir and his good lady wife have always been very pleasant and above all extremely helpful.
We have been there on a number of occassions. One time when he was delivering some items we had ordered (we were on our way back to the apartment) he telephoned me on my mobile to tell me that we had a serious water leak in the apartment and to get back as soon as possible. He turned the water off and waited for us to make sure that we were alright. Would we have received the same response back in the Uk, I THINK NOT !!!!!!
I have nothing but praise for all the staff at Erin spot.
Keep up the good work!!

Echo all sentiments about Erin Spot. We always go back when we are in Calis, popped in for some parasols this time and Bekir was kind enough to come with us to the Electrical shop and translate for us about a problem with our Satellite dish.   I could not image him being rude, he is the most chilled out Turk I have met.

Known Bekir for years never seen him rude even to some very rude and patronising brits in his shop recently, he still smiled at them.
As valentine says he stocks all the major brands and if not in stock will get anything for you.

I don't believe it either!  We've been at the spot shop when Bekir and his family were having lunch and they've insisted we join them!  He always goes out of his way to be helpful, he's even taken us to his home to show us a table he could order in for us!  I rarely go elsewhere and even pop in to ask for directions is i'm lost or can't find something....

Everything we had for our apartment virtually was from Erun Spot and its all good, but we didn't actually get it ourselves we just picked it and someone got it delivered,  hence my next question:-

We have been coming to Calis for 4 years now and everytime we go into Fethiye we look for Erun Spot but just can't find it!! I know it on the opposite side to Gima but can someone give me perfect directions/describe what it looks like from the outside please as we need some bits and pieces that I would like to get from there when we are over in September.

Thanks :)

Gotta say - I agree with everyone on this.... We went in June to see Bekir - mainly to buy a wall unit and a safe!   He was really helpful - and he said he had two types of safe - one with a key - one with a computerised pad.  The latter was the more expensive - but he advised us to have the one with the key - as he said it was better!!!!!  Excellent service - and always a smile!!!!!
Will certainly keep going there..........

Bekir gives an excellent service, we came out in June and furnished our appartment all furniture delivered and installed while we were away, when we were out last week we found that we had miscalculated and went back to Bekir for more and it was delivered and installed before we got back you wouldn't get that in the UK

Apologies.  It was probably me.  I had been diagnosed with breast cancer on the Friday before I went to Turkey on the Monday.  I have since had an operation and await the results on 10th August.  Perhaps I was feeling "twitchy" but - still was uncomfortable at Erin Spot.  I hopefully will be out again later this year and then will look in on him in a more relaxed state!!!

Sorry to hear of your illness and I sincerely hope that you are on the mend. In those circumstances you could hardly have been feeling your best. If you go back I am sure that you will find Bekir as everyone else does, a charming and helpful man. All the very best, I am sure things will turn out well for you.

we also bought all our furniture including white goods from bekir.  Our television went wrong and it is the norm in turkey to repair it but I did not want this and asked for a refund.  He immediately obliged.  He is always smiling and is a real nice man.  Cannot believe it was him who was rude to you.  I think he does not know the word.  A very nice gentle man.  Hope you have good news and will feel better on your next visit.

We needed a few extra thinks for our villa - Mrs Bekir was her usual helpful self - new all prices no "chat" or sales pitch.
We bought our few items small plastic table 2 chairs & a fold up bed - even though it was a small order it was delivered on time and the guys who work for Bekir & Mrs Bekir are always respectful of our house & take their shoes off.

Little Bekir junior was in the shop as well - obviously learning the family business.

Get the Dolmus from Ovacik to Fethiye.  Ask to stop at the Tuesday Market site.... cross over the main road and continue along the road the Dolmus is going for about 50 Meters and it is on your left. :)

If you go too far and go to the final Dolmus stop come back down the hill...turn right at the traffic lights and it is about 300 meters on your right. :)

We know its been said many times 'Eren Spot for great service' but you have to experience it, we were gobsmacked.  We booked to stay in a hotel close to our apartment for a few nights, unfortunately accommodation not up to much so on arrival went straight to Eren Sport and ordered our furniture, white goods etc. delivered that afternoon, set out in every room, all packaging removed, machine plumbed in etc. No stress, no telephone centres trying to get delivery dates or waiting for plumbers just straight forward amazing service, thus having to spend only one night in poor accommodation.  A big thank you to Bekir for all his help and his genuine interest.  A few days later our washing machine started to leak my husband went to phone Bekir, before my husband returned the plumber was on the door step, immediate repair. No Harrods its not but ideal for holiday apartments and the white goods are on a par with any in England.  Once again a big thanks you to Bekir for making it absolutely stress free. Oh to received that service in England.

I'll definatly be going there in October when I go over, did he have any decent sofa beds? and if you dont mind me asking what were his prices for beds and wardrobes if you also purchased these.  I just find it really hard to imagine choosing everything and having it delivered and installed same day as you say why can't that happen here!

Thanks

Hi Sue,

Double divan all approx prices £150,  single with hydrolic storage space (a real bonus)£115. Pull out bed settee £160.  All white goods slightly cheaper than here. Double wardrobes with 2 drawers below £60 not flat packed so saves so much time. We were so amazed by the service happy shopping and happy holiday.  Irene (Mrs Badger)

we furnished most of our villa from Bekir including the white goods.  Our washing machine has a seven guarantee!! I also furnished my friends appartment.  Some of the furniture might have the odd nick or scratch but you cant grumble at the prices. He will always change it anyway.  He is a samshing guy and nothing is too much trouble.  Several times we have been invited to eat with him and his family. We bought our sofas from Istikbal (only cos didn't like any at Bekir's)and when they arrived one had a hole in it and their prices are a lot higher than Eren Spot.  I would certainly reccoment anyone to visit Bekir and check out his prices then shop around.

I cannot see this slur on Bekir or his shop without adding my two pence worth. Bekir is as sincere a man as you will ever find. An honourable man who speaks the truth when he says he even helps his customers when they have problems with other places and other things. I know, because he helped me when I got into a tricky situation with another furniture shop.

He is a very, very nice bloke and his wife is very nice also.

I'm a new member to the forum and looking through some of the messages...I couldn't believe this topic... but I'm glad to see that everyone has come to Bekir's defence.  I found him to be a very nice man willing to help, delivers quickly will bargain a price and will not sell you something you don't need just so he'll make more money.  He even allowed us to put of payment for a washing machine, tv and cabinet and mattress until interest day...which totalled well over 5 weeks due to the banks closing for Bayram (not sure if thats spelt right) anyway no deposit or anything....where else would you get service like that...definately not in the uk.

Lets put this topic in perspective, the orginial poster had an perception due to her experience, lots of people stated their positive experience of Bekir, she accepted this saying maybe her current situation clouded her judgement and was willing to give him the benifit of her doubt.

I don't think it was a slur someone posted their experience and he (Bekir) recieved a glowing recomendation.

Lorraine

I would say this was a good post and shows the strength & the value of the forum.

Just had a problem with our washing machine.  Asked Bekir if he knew a man etc. The machine was not purchased at Eren Spot and was out of guarantee(as they usually are when you have a problem)  One quick telephone call and a couple of hours later it had been fixed.

We went to see Bekir last year to buy a safe (which we were advised to do) and to be fair - there were two - one manual - key locked - and the other - more expensive - that was coded (where you choose your own personal number/code to unlock).  Beker advised us to buy the key lock one - and did not push the more expensive one.  Could not be fairer - lovely guy.

Just took delivery of some items (wardrobe and cupboard) made to our spec and delivered within the week.  I cannot remember who was asking but the beer chiller thingy with the glass door was priced at 313 lira.  There was also a small table top fridge with a white door which was cheaper and in the 200s but i cannot remember exactly.

Bekir was doing my removals. Ok you might as well know because God knows what is being said about me down that neck of the woods.  I moved into an apartment in Calis and at first I was quite happy.  Then things took a turn for the nasty.  Everytime I put my washing outside I would find some of flung to the floor.  I thought I was going mad. Even when I put pegs on it again there it was on the floor. I hung some rugs out over the balcony and came back to find one of them thrown into the dog dirt at the front of the apartments and that was the last straw.  Basically for several months I was being played head games with by the couple upstairs and this began to make me dread going back home to my apartment.

Outwardly, they appear a lovely helpful couple who cant do enough for people when at the same time they were playing head games with me a lone woman in the apartment below.   I have absolutely no idea WHY but I suspected jealousy and insecurity could have had something to do with it.

I have a witness a friend who came to stay from Istanbul experienced these games for herself she suggested I get out now and quickly. I have also other people around calis and fethiye who have been observing this from a distance and knew of the situation I was in.  The woman before me moved out for the same reason I suspect and I only found that out accidentally in conversation with someone that knew the woman.  I could not take any more of this and decided to move out.

As I was moving out the Turkish man from the apartment above asked where I was going? He said was I aware his english wife had acted as guarantor for my rent on the Turkish contract??? A copy of which I never had.  He then asked me had I informed the landlord I was going? I said yes I had. Then this nasty bit of work turned up and began trying to make me take all my possessions of the Bekirs van. He was the landlords son who had so obviously not spoken to his father the main man.

Several people turned up to my aid and Im very grateful to them they were the same people who had been observing the antics of the english woman in particular from upstairs. They reminded the landlord that I did not have a copy of the contract.  They told him I was moving out of an intolerable situation because of them upstairs.  They also told him he still had a substantial amount of my deposit and my months rent so put up and shut up.

He said if Erin Spot moved me HE would burn Bekirs business down.  This went on for about an hour. I called the police.  The police told him to let me go. I couldnt fault the removal guys because they were protecting their bosses busines. Bekirs removal business is excellent.

I am saddened that these people had nothing better to do than play silly little petty games and tricks with the woman in the apartment below them for whatever was lacking in their lives.  I did nothing to deserve any of that.  Since I have moved apparently I have learned they are still riding around badmouthing me to people that they think know me which again is very sad.

The latest gossip about me I have heard is I have been seen rotten drunk around Fethiye and Calis drinking with a guy called Bob.  Stuff like this is also very damaging to the AA fellowship I established in Fethiye and could kill people who might ordinarily have asked for help.  Fortuntely it is now run by other people but this is the length these people are prepared to stoop.

So now you know.   Bet your sorry you asked now LOL

Same here. How ridiculous, I don't even know a guy called Bob!

Don't worry Linda - you are right about these people with empty lives that they try to fill with malicious lies about people.

I don't have anything to do with them, and rarely go out in Calis. I don't talk about people I no longer have anything to do with, don't even speak their names - and nearly a year later, they still spend their lives talking about me  :)

You and I must be very interesting people  ;)

LOL I do acutally know a guy called Bob and he is a very nice and kind bloke in Calis.

Thanks Keith and yeah Puma I got a better life now.  Living in that apartment was like being in Jail. I didnt have the sense to see when I saw the bars on the windows and the guard dog that has to have two kopek signs to warn people its there! Oh and I forgot about the padlock on the gate and the 12 oclock curfew LOL

Sadly there are a few around Calis that have got nothing better to do than gossip about other people because it makes their lives seem better. If they dont know anything about you they will make it up.   They should look at themselves.  At least most of us on here are doing or have done something constructive for the community.
