Post by: Brians on February 19, 2004, 16:35:26 PM: I have been visiting this forum for a while and feel it about time I became a member.

My name is Brian and my wife is Norma. I have been lucky to have previously worked in Turkey (Ankara) for several years. We made our first trip back last April after 14 years away -it felt like returning home. We decided to sell up, give up work and settle in Turkey. After 3 further trips to Turkey last year we are part of the way there, I have stopped work, we have a property in Marmaris, but the hold up at the moment is that we have yet to sell our house in Lincoln.

I hope that I will not be considered to be an interloper because I have a property in Marmaris !! Having said that, your forum has made us sufficiently interested in the Calis area that we are thinking of moving from Marmaris to Calis.

We will be visiting Marmaris 16 to 30 April and now intend to pop to Calis for a couple of days to look at property. We will be happy to buy anyone a drink who is prepared to talk to us !!

Post by: legless on February 19, 2004, 17:14:23 PM: Welcome Brian & Norma, I have visited Marmaris many times over the last couple of years in particular Armutalan were we have freinds last year we decided to try Olu Deniz and ended up buying a villa in Calis we fell in love with the area straight away and have been back 4 times since last July,

The easiest way to visit Calis is by bought from one of the piers go for a day trip to Fethiye and ask the guy to pick you up a couple of days later, I did it in July just to visit our freinds

Post by: jantaylor on February 27, 2004, 23:38:51 PM: We'd only ever been to Marmaris before, but decided to look at Calis with the intention of buying, mainly because of this forum. We visited Calis in February, when it was freezing, and still loved it. Nowhere near as big as Marmaris, but a similar sand and shingle beach [more shingle than sand]. It has the advantage of being near to Fethiye; a lovely town, Olu Deniz with it's glorious sandy beach and Hisaronu for night-life if you want busy, so you can move to Calis and have it all!!! Contact Scunner [Keith] or Xanadu [Heidi] to arrange a fest of viewings and you won't go wrong. Unfortunately we won't be around in April, but I'm sure we'll meet up some-time, 'cos there's no contest between Calis and Marmaris!!!!
