Hi Speed,
Like you we'll be furnishing our villa in Uzumulu this year. We've already done same for an apartment 3 years ago, was great experience, even I enjoyed it. For advice look at the various sections in this web site dealing with shopping and property. Everyone has their favourites, but you shouldn't ignore the "Spot" shop opposite the entrance to Tuesday market. Don't overlook Gima and Migros for some small stuff.
And joy of joys there's always IKEA in Izmir!!!!!
Where abouts is your new place?

Midrange Price & quality
-we are looking for a quality feel at a reasonable price.-
Thanks.

Our villa is about 1/2 mile in from the petrol station off the main road.- ours is one of 3 triplex being built.

This might sound obvious but go and have a look at the very many outlets in Fethiye. Just browse and ask for prices. Take a note book and write down prices, impressions etc. There are plenty of shops. We started with the main furnishings first. Then on another day we did our kitchenware and on another day out linen and towels. Lastly we did our outside furniture. Doing this is a good way to orientate yourself but it can be a bit tiring on your feet if its hot. It is a way of getting confidence in bartering. The curtains and lamps were the hardest - too much choice and difficult to visualize in the apartment. Most shops will deliver!
The most important thing is to be clear as to which items you want for budget prices and which for medium quality and which for best quality as this may determine which shops you will seek out. Take both sterling and YTL with you. Hope you enjoy it. As a man who hates shopping in the UK I loved buying for our apartment. Estimate the cost for mid range budget about £2000 for a 2 bed apartment and £3000 for a 3 bed apartment but you can spend more or less than this as you wish.

Hi speed, you may be best looking for something other than leather sofas, you stick to them in England, just think how it will be if it twice as hot. Alan

Try Bellonna (round the corner from Migros) on the way out of Fethiye, Erin spot & the numerous electrical shops onthe one way system.Try & get them to include extended guarantees on the electrical gear. Also theres a large furniture store on the main road just outside Kemer thats definately worth a look.

Hi Speed, Congratulations on your new villa. We bought ours in Uzumlu a year ago and we love it. Hope you enjoy yours as much. We are past the petrol stations, past the village and then up on the hill side at Cadianda Villas. We bought our sofas, beds from a place called Su Mobilya in Fethiye. Phone number 0.252.612 99 03-04, Really good quality but not to expensive. All our white goods we got aswell from Fethieye at the Beko Shop. We are very pleased with everything we bought from there including the tele and dvd.
Curtains or blinds shop around in Fethieye. Loads of shops who will do that for you. Get different quotes though there seems to be quite a difference. Each place will come to your Villa, measure up and quote. As for out door furniture, if you can find the Migros in Fethieye. Once you are on the road where the entrance way to the carpark is, keep going down there towards Calis and there are several shops with out door furniture. Some expensive, some not. Hope that is a help and makes sence !!!!!!

or get some of it made ! We found local carpenters for wardrobes, cabinets, dressing tables, bedside cabinets etc, and a fantastic forge who made beds to die for, balcony furniture and the most incredible wrought iron /granite garden furniture. I'm not sure if I can give you contacts on the thread, so happy to supply names if you email me. We are in Uzumlu, and happy for you to look at the quality of our stuff for some ideas if that helps.... Have fun !

Some great suggestions so far many thanks- there all going into my notebook!
Interesting comment about leather not being too practical in the heat- we were just thinking of all that suntan oil on a fabric suite?
More than happy if you want to email me with any info on local carpenters and the local forge -thanks!
-keep them coming!- Thanks again.
email address deleted - please do not post email addresses on the open forum, contact can be made via your profile.

Hi Speed,
sounds like you're not too far from us, we turn in left beside the petrol station then , past the Orka development of 6 villas and the Dutch style house then turn right past a development of 3 or 4 bungalows and head towards the valley side. Ours is one of a pair also being built by Orka. Nearest "landmark" is a big yellow villa and a donkey!
Guess we'll meet up some time later this year
