hi all,

me and my fiance have been to fethiye for two weeks, we are both working for a private firm in here. we really got bored of dvd movies and reading 75th book since we got here. the thing is that she really is bored of the routine and want to make friends in here. social clubs  etc..i couldn't locate any active social club in here..where are ppl gathering at? only at birthday parties??  today is monday and i'm hoping to get something tday. scuba diving or paragliding can't be the only activities, can they? we do need friends to talk and share experience in real life..any ideas are appreciated..

I suppose it takes a bit of time to find places and meet the local community.  If you are looking, why not try the quiz nights (search on here), The Han coffee morning on Wednesday morning (from 11am) or pick up a copy of the local Land of Lights newspaper which is free and have a look in there.

Keep reading the forum and you will spot events happening.

Cut the plug of of your dvd, throw the books in the pool, and go down the town and have a few beers, you will be chatting to people before you know it, because that is what the place is all about.

Thanks for the replies Anne, Teresa, tinx, Tribalelder,and Julie.

I guess sometimes I just lose the basic common sense..if I let go it'll happen so actually no rush, right?

by the way i'm turkish and my fiance is english (sounds so cliche in Turkey! ) the thing is i sometimes feel more like a tourist in this city..as my fiance's need for friends to talk came up i just didn't know what to do..going to a bar could  perhaps be the best idea, i just thought it would be better without geting drunk..(she drinks more than i do..and i wouldn't think of attending AA meetings to socialize!!  :)

Hi! This is the bored fiancée. Thanks to everybody who made the love of my life feel welcome here. I was literally bored to tears, as my old "gang" is in Istanbul, I know absolutely nobody here, and, as he mentioned, his idea of a great evening is watching a DVD. When the DVD in question is Ghost Rider, I'd rather spend the evening colour-coding my socks. We're currently staying in a pretty isolated spot, so I can't walk anywhere on my own like I did in Istanbul - I have to force the poor guy to drive me. He's promised me a scooter, though! So if any of you see a small bike whizz into the sea - that'll probably be me. Don't worry: I can swim  :)
