Title: Grand National
Post by: tinkerman on April 13, 2007, 20:09:30 PM
Anyone doing anything in the National tomorrow?
I have had a look through the runners but nothing seems to be jumping out at me, but here's my choice.

1st. L'ami
2nd. Clan Royal
3rd. Joes Edge

I have a couple in the Koca Calis Sweep  Eurotrek and Kelami, Mick has Joes Edge and Silver Birch.  All of those 4 are obviously now losers.

it cost me £5 to pick out 'Le Duc':(

it is the only DONKEY running![xx(]

Mind you, my horse from last year must be about half way round by now, so he might finish for me in next years race! ;)

just to add a bit of extra info on the races, yesterday was ladies day, and residents near to the ground were armed with hose pipes to stop the ladies! urinating in their gardens.absolutely true.

Certainly hope so because we have also had quite a bit of family misfortune these past few months.  Mick also won a meal for 2 at the new Shine Indian restaurant in Calis as he got the same horse in another sweep. Mmmmmm - Onion Bhajis, etc etc : :).

Hope he is taking me :D

The good news and the bad news

backed first and second with a modest pound each way and absolutely delighted to have won approx £40 - the bad news is that I've lost my ticket - think I threw it away when I was clearing out my bag
Somehow I don't think gambling and me mix

Janet ,no problem,go back in and tell them you have thrown it out and they get you to fill in a form with a copy of your bet. They will track it and pay you out.

Update

I've been through all the rubbish bags in the wheelie bin (not a pleasant job but had to be done) just to see if by chance my tickets were there and guess what - I found them inside a plastic bag and still clean and not at all smelly.  so I've been to the bookies and got my winnings - the princely sum of £4 for 2nd place and £43.25 for 1st place.  I also took some things back to a shop and got a £23 refund - yippee I'm rich !!!!
Well just for a moment or two as I've been out and bought a new BBQ

When we were kids Mum & Dad let us put a pound on a horse in national and so I thought I would continue with the trend with my nipper. She picked out 2 horses one at 150-1 and the other at 33-1, she liked the colours. I put the bets on £1 each way so giving her at least a small chance of winning something.  33-1 came in first. £43 to an 8 year old must feel like a small fortune.
So, thats set her on rocky road of gambling addiction.
