Hi,This is Amanda B.Glad to see the Deliktas area has it's own little section.
Does anyone on the forum live out there permenantly?or have apartment.
Could do with an update on the building work around there.Also is the little shop (Turkish) in the middle still there?

Hi Amanda. I was out 10 days ago. If you email me via profile I can send you a picture of latest on building works. We are in Forest Hill Houses. The new little shop is still there and my youngest was forever running down the hill to buy chocolate bars.
Latest on dolmus is that it is not going to run up the valley until next year and when it does it will be a new service provider managed by Fethiye Council (so they get the money).
One of my neighbours asked the Mayor live on TV about a month ago when the roads would be completed. He said 2008 - but I am sceptical as they still have to complete 'The Viewpoint' (dont want to discuss that topic again!) and there are still apartment blocks to be completed behind us for the Judge and key staff for new Fethiye Courts. However, once these are completed I bet things start to move a lot more quickly!

Hi i live opposite the green valley complex. There seems to be a lot going on at the moment, with new water pipes being installed, i think that makes about 3 time the road has been dug up over the last few months. We all got excited when the road was flattened a while back, however it seems it was only done to make it easier to dig it up again. Still that's life here in green valley.
We have at last got road numbers, and many of the apartment blocks have been given numbers, so we can give directions on where we live! and we will be found (well hopefully).
There is a new shop at the bottom through the village on the middle road, seems very competitively priced, and all staff very pleasant.
So really life goes on as normal here, we are all very happy, but haven't got a clue whats happening.

The other recent development a few weeks ago was the telephone poles and cables going up . Soon (I hope) we will all be able to rely on more than mobile phones.

Thanks for all info,it's nice to know whats happening.It will be good to have a road number at last.No one can ever find ours.Will the building work be stopping for summer or will it be that awful "pick,pick,pick" on the hillside all the time?Any photo's welcome of area.Doug sent me a good one.(happy monday)

We have just had a neighbour come back from the Green Valley Complex (where we obviously have our place!)a few days ago - and he said that the roads were done up as far as we are! I seriously cannot wait now until June - when we next go! I agree with the 'pick,pick,pick' Amanda! Apparently it seems to be getting a little less now - and the places on the side of the mountain (the municipality places) are almost finished. We were worried about them being a bit of an eyesore - but it seems they are not too bad!. We have been told about the roads - and also the bridges that are popping up too over the natural waterflow down from the mountain. Just wish that they would stop building though - as there are so many places - and not enough people to buy them! Fantastic news also about the road numbers - we have some Turkish friends that live in the Katman Apartments - and the post does not get there even now! Perhaps that now we have some recognition - some post may soon get through!???????????

Hi Kirby - are you sure about the roads? When we were there less that 2 weeks ago nothing had started and if anything they were in a worse state than last October when at least gravel had been put down on the potholes. It was a lot quieter although they have only just started on the Viewpoint so that may be the background noise this year.

Hi Mandy. The photo that I sent you shows Green Valley just after they put in the new bridge two weeks ago. The development behind this is the municipal development that drove us crazy last year. Around the corner to your right on the hillside is The Viewpoint now partly built. Large pool but shared by over 100 apartments and on a near vertical hillside. If you use search on 'the viewpoint' you will see that there was a bit of a debate on this a week or so ago. I would not buy from this development until fully built, roads done and the cable car up and running. Otherwise could be a nightmare there.

Sorry Kirby, but the roads are far from done, some have been covered by a slate like material but are still very rough. The road through the village is getting worse every day.

One of our neighbours (Turk working in Liverpool) is talking about looking for a plot in Deliktas for building a bar, restaurant and swimming pool complex. I think this will be a great development opportunity. At the moment we normally jump in car and go to Fethiye, Calis or Kayakoy.

Not at the moment. Eventually the road will join with Ovacik but this is a few years away. Dolmus hopefully next year when roads completed (hah!)will make a lot easier.

Are you having a laugh Doug?That was on the agenda when it was mostly fields.It was so exciting when we got a street light.Many a time we ploughed home through the fields in the dark.That stone you kicked usually turned out to be a tortoise.Amanda B

Talking about animals. Last year in October I was driving up the hill to our place and an animal stepped out in front of me and stood there in the headlights for about 30seconds. Looked like a large fox with long legs - but definitely not a dog. The next day I spoke to a Turkish friend and he told me (and showed me pictures that confirmed it) that it was a Jackal. They live up in the forest above our place.

Hi Mandy. They are timid and more likely to run that bite. They are the Middle East/ Eastern European version of the American cayote. A friend told me that when driving over the hills to Dalaman late at night you often see them on the hillside. I have never seen before or since.

OMG - Jackals in the hills! how funny! So glad that they are timid! Thought it was just jumping spiders and turtles we had there. I have not been on for a few days so just read through all the postings. Thanks Miaspyro for the update on the roads. Seems my info source was not too good then eh? By the way - thanks Doug for the picture. it was really interesting. Steve is not too impressed with the municiple houses. They are almost right outside our kitchen window - and very close to our place full stop. We are really upset at the amount of building work going on. When we bought there - there was very little - and now ......... I was looking at some early photos - and it was lovely then!!!! But I suppose it is something we have to accept eh? Still - cannot wait to get over there now - 6 weeks and counting!

Yep - afraid so! Our daughter was out in Antalya the year before last working for a huge tour operator as a rep. The one night I was on the phone to her - it was 11.30pm here - 1.30am there. She kept me on the phone for over an hour as this jumping spider was on the porch where she lived! Amd she would not move for it!!! apparently it sat staring her out for a while! hahahahha We had already been on the phone for an hour - needed another mortgage for the phone bill when it arrived - even though we used a cheap rate service provider (9p per minute to a mobile from a landline)! She told me about the jumping spiders and also the scorpions!!!!! Low and behold - when we were out last year I chased this sodding jumping spider all round the bedroom - till I won! Steve was in bits! The scorpions are quite small apparently and they live in areas like we live in - I have not seen one personally - but they are there - and they're beige in colour. A neighbour has seen one - and it was dead!!! So there have to be living ones!!! I don't think that tye are poisonous - but they do nip! This is the price we pay for buying a property in Fethiye! Sam was so glad when she got Ibiza for the summer season 2006. She has since left TC to persue a career outside the travel industry. Phew!!!!!!! Cheaper phone bills :-)

Amanda be careful, my daughter was bitten by a snake last year and had to go to the hospital for an injection,it was at the back of a hotel in Hisonaru.

Have you a pic of the new hillside complex as we too understand it looks quite nice and NOT an eyesore as predicted.
Where is this shop near Forest Hills houses your daughter visits and we agree the dolmus in 2008 will make a difference.
It was the central river cutting with all the building rubbish in it that was the worst bit but the new bridge sounds interesting.

Hi Steve49, where abouts are you - Amanda and I wanna know!!!!! hahahahahaha. Steve and I are out there on the 8th June for 2 weeks - cannot wait now. Could meet up if you want to for an Efes or two - we are at the Green Valley Complex. There are a few of us going out there - so you can meet all the neighbours if your up for it ??!!!!
Hi telsoo, to save me fingers - have a little read through all the entries on here - as we have discussed the roads n stuff. Happy Monday has posted a few entries - and he too has a place in the Forest Hill apartments. I am sure Doug will assist all he can as he has not long got back. He is a real nice guy!! (sorry for embarrassing you there Doug!). The latest we have heard is that the roads are not done - surprise surprise. Buildings going up like they are going out of fashion!!!

I'm about a stones throw away from Green Valley, Ive furnished it but its not
quite habitable yet. Its quite an unusual apartment (duplex) own front door, three balconies overlooking pool It would be nice
to meet up with the neighbours. Steve

Hi Steve - yeah we have a duplex as well - and that too is unusual. It's upside down! The upstairs is downstairs and the downstairs is up! hahaha. We have a ground floor - which means we have our own gardens and own front door - which is fantastic. Where abouts are you then? I know you said a stones throw - but how far is that hahaha. Yeah would be really good to meet up - you can meet all the gang then! It's a great feeling isn't it - when you have your own place. I think that Amanda is not far down the valley - and I know Doug is in Forest Hill. I don't think that Doug will be out there in June. But I am sure that when he reads this he will tell us when he is! :-)

Hi Kirby. We are out in three weeks time. Fingers crossed pool will be filled. Boys running down the hill every few hours for chocolate bars etc.. We are then out in July (20th I think) for about three weeks. Then a break until october. It would be nice to meet you and steve given all the mails that have gone. Also Mandy - so we can scare her by finding a jackal.... and possibly a pub (Im beginning to think she is an alcoholic!). Terry and Sue have also emailed me so hope to meet them soon as we are neighbours. Where is BJ?

Now this is getting interesting! hahaha Bruce - no matey aint forgot ya! Looks like we (me and Steve) are going to miss you all - except for Steve! We are out - like I say on the 8th June for 2 weeks - then in September - from the 7th for 2 weeks! Amanda - what a bugger that you are going home the day we get there!! Doug that would be funny to get Amanda sozzled at the Green Valley bar - not so funny to find her a jackal though - that is a little mean hahahahahaha. Looks like Amanda could be out the same time as you and Angela and the lads. To be fair - we really enjoy an Efes or two ....... more than once we have had a few drinks at the bar - and ended up in the pool at 1 am..... we have had to alter the times of Ayhan putting the chemicals in the pool - if we have had any plans !!!! hahahaha. BJ has not been on for ages has she. I will send her an email and ask her to get her ar** into gear. We email each other all the time - I think she is going out in June also for a week or so - depending on her sons studies. I know she wants to go when we are out there.... just hope she can!!!
Gill and Colin are also on the forum - and they too are in Green Valley Complex. I will find out when they are next out.
Amanda - I think that Doug does like a drop of the amber nectar...... hahahaha

hahaha - ofcourse you are! You have a personal invite by me and Steve! We do have one rule though seriously - the pool is for residents only! The bar is open to non residents - BUT by personal invite by an owner! That invite goes for Steve49 as well by the way! All the rest of you guys are not out when we are - sorry! But we will arrange something when you are - no problem (problem yok!!!) We had a few incidents last year - where people were just walking in and hoping to use our facilities. They were soon asked to leave! We have to pay for these facilities - and a few of us were not happy with Joe bloggs walking off the street and using what is rightfully ours! We also have 24 hour security in place - and residents - including us I am afraid to say - were up in arms - as it made the security non existant! What is the point of having 24 hour security - when anybody can just walk in. So be warned!!! hahahahaha. What I will do - is email you guys with my moby number - and text me when you are available - and we will meet up - no problem at all! Poolside party - here we come!

We actually land at 2.30am on the 9th! So we will not be able to meet up with you Amanda!!!!! What a buggar! I was looking forward to meeting up as well! We had the most fantastic time with 'Scot' and his wife Brenda. We were saying that it was a shame that you were not out there with us. We expected also to hear from Steve - but he did not contact us at all! We had a fair few nights up at the Green Valley Bar - So much so that we had to raid all our apartments to carry on as we literally drunk the bar dry!!!! hahahahahaha. We are next out in September - and cannot wait! We have come home and left our friends and neighbours out there - there were loads of tears when we left last night!!!! Even our adopted street dog 'Polar' came to see us off last night! I have been receiving texts all day from everyone - bless em!
Bruce - How's the old head mate? That tree outside our apartment will not be the same now!!! hahahahaha. What a fantastic couple!!!! Sorry we missed you at the airport. Our flight was delayed by just over an hour .... not too bad I suppose. Hope yours was on time.
Amanda - we really would love to meet up - but it does not look like it will be this year hun.

Hi Amanda, I don't want you to expect the ritz. The food to be fair is pretty good considering. It is not really a 'bar' and it does not do 'bar snacks'. It is a poolside restaurant - which sells drinks. If you go up there - have a look at the menu - and book for that night if you decide you want to eat there. Durmus will get the food in fresh to order then. Ayhan is the guy that looks after the place - and if you go in ask for him (he speaks good english) - tell him that Steve and I (Carole) have sent you. If he knows that you are a friend - he will ensure you get good treatment! :-) Watch the bar bill though - make sure you keep an eye on the amount of drinks you are being billed for. Like I have said before - Vodka and cokes were 7 lira (and there is hardly any vodka in it! - Efes 3.5 Lira. Wanted to charge an owner 2.5 Lira for a SMALL can.
Let me know what happened and what you think when you get back - because as an owner there - this information would be a real help to us. xxx
I would like to know who Laffa's daughter is - we may know her! There are loads of owners who keep in touch with each other. There's a real community building up there now - it's great!

Yep by the sound of things we are. The Turkish bath is not up and running yet - but that's another story hahaha.
What did you think of it - as an owner there - I would like to hear your honest opinion.
We are out in September - perhaps you could join us up there? Would be great to meet up. We are out on the 7th for 2 weeks.

Hi Carole - we were hoping to meet you this year but looks like we will miss each other again. Angela is out for just under four weeks at the end of the month and i join her for 2.5 weeks first week in Auust. Not out again after that until Otober Half Term.

Still envious though!!! I would love to get over there more often - but as I work in a very busy Payroll office (soon to be made redundant!!!) I cannot get over there. Steve works in transport - so he is worse! Oh well - when I get my redundancy through - depending on the time - and ofcourse if I get another job - I might get out for another 2 weeks! Steve will not be able to - which is not good - but I might go out with a friend. Daughter will not be able to get any time off either!

Angela is a school teacher. Its not all roses as the cost of flights is clearly higher. Booking ahead with Aegean helps a lot.

I work in a school as an exams officer - I would love to have the 6 weeks off and be in Turkey but the nature of the job means being in school for results days in August. But lets face it all our jobs are getting in the way of where we really want to be!

Hi Terry & Sue. Writing from an Internet cafe in Fethiye. Your place is fine. Pam and Johnny left just before I came out (escaping the hot Aug weather) but back next week. We have been looking after an adopted cat and kittens in their absence whilst our neighbours in the UK (GrantT on this forum) has been looking after ours. Thanks Grant - back tomorrow night! :-\ Mehmet and family are also well - although he got a bit of a rollicking the other week for not cutting the grass - so all looking well now. Hope to see you in October? Doug
