Help please , what are the rules governing bringing belongings into Turkey,Do we first need residency?we already own a property and are looking to move across permanently the end off June,

Hi George, i'm sure you'll get lots of help & the info you need, just wanted to wish you all well & hope the move goes smoothly :) :)
-
Yes you do.........you are leaving it a bit late though if you plan to move at the end of June. :)

George,
I suspect you are already doing this, but I suggest you use the Turkish Embassy, they are very helpful, especially with your timing. It is best to have a permit before you finally go, it will be easier to bring items in. 8)

I think you might find that anything you do/pay for via the Turkish Embassy will be a waste of time & money & will have to be repaid & done again once you reach Turkey.
Someone please correct this if things have changed?

George,
If you're shipping your stuff by sea container, you'll have time to get over here and obtain your Residence Permit before you need it for Customs clearance.
However, if you're thinking of driving over with a vehicle full of stuff you're going to encounter problems at the border / port of entry if you haven't already got your permit.

No problem thru Ipsala border crossing with car topped up last year. Secured residency whilst here with the car.
