Hi we are Paul and Karen from Lincoln.
We are visiting Chalis shortly to see if we like it enough to buy a property there.
What is the best currency to bring to use for buying meals, gifts and taxis etc

Hi true blue,
welcome to the forum, you'll find lots of information here.
I would suggest you take some Turkish to get you through the first day or so then you can change stirling (better exchange rate than UK) in many places along the front or in the town. Then there are several cash points you can use as needed. Hope that helps, have fun !

Hi Paul/Karen, welcome to the forum. Sterling is best to bring with you, you can change it for Turkish lira in many places, it is also widely accepted in the shops.

Hi true blue, welcome to the forum, hope you find a place to fall in love with, I'm sure you'll enjoy your trip ;)

Hi and a very warm welcome to the Forum. If you use an ATM use a Nationwide card. It is worth getting if you don't already have one. :)

Hi True Blue
Calis is a great place, we only went to invest for the pension two years ago and fell in love with the place. Been back loads since.
Take Lira and pounds sterling as both useful to have. When you get used to the exchange rate you can even come out on top. But you have to be keen to beat the Turkish traders.
Have a great time

Sorry forgot, Echo tribalelder. Take Nationwide BS card for withdrawing cash as rates are good.

Thanks for the advice.
We have a Nationwide card already.
If it used in Turkey are the exchange rates better than in the UK then?
-
Hi True Blue
Welcome to the forum. Nationwide give the best exchange rate and do not charge you for the privilege. You'll find all the help you need on here. Happy hunting.

Welcome true blue.We always take some Turkish currency to start off with, the rest being sterling notes.Maybe I'll get a Nationwide card as my bank charges commision on any ATM withdrawals there.Good luck on your property search if you decide to buy.
