Hello everybody!
Wow, what a lively forum! I discovered it a couple of days ago while researching a family holiday in Turkey. My partner Hazel, and three Children (Alex 9, Ryan 7 and Morgan 2) Have been to Turkey a couple of times before, staying at Side. This time, as much as we love it down there, we wanted to try somewhere else and the Fethiye area looks stunning! We are hoping to come out in October and are torn between Calis beach and Fethiye town. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks - or Tesskkur Edrim is they say over there!

Welcome to the forum.
It is easy to travel between the two places, good transport system. So both are good. Calis for the beach though.

Thanks Baz
With three kids having the beach on the doorstep would be handy - is it as nice as it looks?

For the past 9/10 years we stayed in Fethiye, Ovacik areas, only visiting Calis on rare occassions. This year in May we spent a lot more time getting to know Calis and found it really is a superb location, great for kids of all ages :D:D:D

Sounds great! I've not been to this part of Turkey before, so I'm really looking forward to it. Side's a really cool town, full of roman and greek ruins, but the landscape around is fairly flat and uninspiring - until you get u in the Torus Mountains which are stunning! fethiye looks even better though!
By the way, went to Sharm El Sheikh last year and did my first dive - amazing! I've always loved snorkeling, but scuba diving is fantastic. Deffo do it again, even though on my second dive I had to blow my nose so much to stop my ears from exploding that i had a nose bleed!
:P

If you like peace and quite holiday must choose Cali#351;. Also close to Fethiye and shopping centre.

Merhaba Ergun
Is Cali#351 an apartment or villa? We are looking for somewhere to rent for 14 nights, October 8 to October 22, with a swimming pool, close to the beach and the water taxi.
Any ideas anyone ;)

Hello again Baz
Just noticed on your profile you live in Wadebridge - I know it from the Royal Cornwall Show. Remember (just about) having a few good night in an old pub in the high street - think used to be coach house. Was a few years ago now and I was very, very drunk! I've lived in Cornwall most of my life but have now 'emigrated' to Plymouth for work reasons.

Hi Max, Defo Calis with 3 kids, Fethiye too hot of a day.Been to Side myself, Calis is much better and will give the kids a break from all those bricks, enjoy. ;)
-
Cheers Laffa
If Calis is much better than Side then we really are in for a treat! Hope all is well in Liverpool, I was born in Crosby and my dad lives over the water in the Greasby. Was up there at Easter for a few days.
PS Hope you're a red and not a bluenose!
-
:o To save you doing any research Max, I am a five star red, My fella is a blue nose, with a hint of Man U, in the form of Wayne Rooney, How sad is that. But had the sense to come to Turkry with me for The final, Once you get used to Calis you and the kids will love it,And have fun on the forum.
-
Glad to hear it Laffa - shame about the hubby though! Still, as long as he cheered us along in Istanbul, and kept his gob shut in athens, he can't be all bad - for a bluenose/scummer that is! ;)

Hi Max
I actually went the other way, born and bred in Plymouth, moved to Cornwall for work reasons about 18 years ago.
Back on thread, there is so much you can do in and around Calis/Fethiye, the culture thing, the scenery, diving, boat trips, and there are also one or two bars:D:D, just about all of which will have a revue here on the forum, just use the search engine.

Hi Max
Welcome to the CBF. I am sure you will find it interesting, amusing but most of all informative. With your family profile I am sure that you would find our complex at Violet fantastic. I do not personally rent but if you look up Violet on the renting sites I am sure you will be impressed. On you proposed dates there should be plenty of 2 or 3 bedroom apartments available. The beach is actually 20 mins from your doorstep walking but much quicker by Dolmus. The pool makes up for that.
Best Regards
Ken :D:D

Hello and welcome to the forum
-
hi maxc
welcome to the forum...
calis is a fantastic area to come to, but as it is your first visit here, and you like diving, maybe oludeniz/ovacik/hisaronu would be better... the beach is out of this world, and since you sound the adventrous type you could try paragliding!!!!!
the views are stunning from these areas as well, as you are high up the montain anyway
anyway where ever you stay, i know you will fully enjoy the fethiye region...
one other sugestion, why not do a few days at each resort, all you need to do is travel lite!!!

Thanks to everyone for all the advice and the warm welcome
I think I might take Lewis.Wensley's advice and head for the hills of Hisaronu. As it's my first visit it kinda makes sense to be in the middle of things!
Thanks again
