Post by: laffa on August 14, 2007, 20:42:30 PM: :)Just wandering if the bridge is still closed off at night and has it caused any problems, Is the pedestrianised area still got bikes going up and down it, or is it now safe for kids.?

Post by: Jenny on August 14, 2007, 22:06:55 PM: Well I thought it was open Moe, so I drove across it at night to park at the carpark just after it to the right. The bollards dont start til opposite B52 so I presumed it was open, there were people walking in the middle of it though giving me looks as if it was pedestrianised so im not sure whether it was ok to drive across it or not!

which at nights get put up to block traffic
i think the bridge bit may have them too,not sure
but traffic is allowed through in the day.

Post by: laffa on August 15, 2007, 15:26:45 PM: :)Thats exactly what I mean, so if you are coming down the road behind the front, ie, the back of The Harem, Bella Mamas etc, you cant do a left, you have to turn round and go all of the way back, I know the dirt track road is open, but its coming the other way I wanted to know about, Hope that makes sense. ;)

Post by: Jenny on August 15, 2007, 16:50:46 PM: The bollards aren't where they are on that picture anymore, they are outside B52 so if you're driving along the back of bella mamma's and harem you can still go over the bridge and then turn left along the dirt road that goes past Golden Moon, or right to the little car park that will take you to opposite Scarletts or if you go further it brings you out by the Aqua Park.

Post by: sannyrut on August 16, 2007, 10:47:55 AM: Thanks for that Jenny.I was in Calis earlier this year and remember that the bollards were at the end of the bridge viz the end nearest the promenade,not outside B52.I didn't want to say anything before,as I thought I had it wrong in my mind.Anyway,I was a bit concerned about the metal pathway on the bridge as it is now full of small holes.Looks to me that high heels will be difficult on that part of the bridge.Maybe I should wear my crocs:D

Post by: laffa on August 16, 2007, 15:52:42 PM: :) I have a sneaky feeling they will do something drastic with the bridge, its been a problem for years and even more so now that Calis is laden with traffic. I think it wil either be knocked down and rebuilt higher, or the taxi boat station will be moved to stop the bottleneck of traffic,and a new bridge built that will blend in with the flow of traffic from the new roads, sounds mad, but makes sense. ;)
