My name is Mustafa,
I am a QANOON player in Fethiye last ten years. We are 3 as a group of musicians. We read, write, play and sing only Ottoman-Turkish Art Music. We all are academicians and work professionally.

I think you will find most people like Turkish music however, there's different types and not all types pleases everyone. Halk (folk) and Turkish pop is fine by me but I draw the line at Turk Sanat. More like english funeral music imho. :D

I understand you my friend.
Once you get into the deep meanings of the words with the music, you will start to understand a bit of it. Music with only tunes is just music, but with the words it becomes a phylosophy. The best way to understand Turks is learning TURK SANAT MUSIKISI. The difficulty is we understand your music but you do not ours. At least you can start to try right now.
as what we say in Turkish:
"esegin bilmedigi ot, basini agritir"

Welcome to the forum Mustafa, where abouts do you play your music?
I think you will be surprised how many people love the Turkish music and would like to come and watch you play.

We are working at SOMINE KEBAP opposite to TANSAS 2 days a week. They also are one of our members.
But we do not know how long it will go.
Because we were informed by the owner that; Turkish music is not right type of music for English guests.

Yes,
we are at SOMINE KEBAP every Tuesday and Saturday.
You can bring your instruments with you than we make our own spontaneous music later on.......it will be good fun........

I am not at that restaurant anymore.
As I told before;
We are been told that our music is not the right type of music for you.
so and so you do not need to read or listen to my music if you do not like or find it headaching.
there always must be some will like it.

Mustafa we are over in 2 weeks would love to come and listen to an evening of Turkish music, please let us know if you are anywhere in the Fethiye / Calis area.

Thanks for your support KARAOKEMARK;
We are not playing anywhere at the moment. We have stopped playing in the restaurant ( I do not want to name it, because the bosses in this forum will get me wrong again) where we were before. I only go to a local music club 2 days a week and teach Turkish music there.

Email me when you come to Fethiye, we have drinks somewhere else and we can talk about Turkish Music, if you like to.
