we are now really warm and cosy in our apartment after purchasing a sorba - no smoke no smuts no re-decorating in the spring, just plenty of heat.we have always warmed our house in the uk with a woodburning stove and are used to them being temperamental. but nagging the husband that we ought to have a carbon monoxide monitorhere in turkey, but cant find one in dalaman does anyone know if we could get one in fethiye?

We looked for CO monitors in Tekzen and KocTas (Antalya) but could not find any. Smoke detectors are plentiful.

We bought our CO monitor in England.

Try the Alarko shop on the main road through Tasyaka - he speaks good English too.

Pardon my ignorance,  :-\ but what is a sorba? where did you get it? and what do they cost?  Also does it put out fumes into the atmosphere? to get on your chest.

a sorba is a very basic turkish wood/coal burning stove
we bought ours in ortaca for 180 lire which included all chimney fitttings (it is a simtas make which apparently is supposed to be one of the best)you can buy them anywhere, the world and his wife sell them.
as for fumes we cannot smell anything or see any smoke (cough cough :D)

Carbon monoxide is colourless, and odourless and deadly,i.e.,it kills people in their sleep. It is produced by burning all hydrocarbons, wood, coal etc.Bought a digital one in UK for out here, and not just for when the soba is up and running, but we also have a gas cooker and fire.As important to have in any house as smoke alarms.I was a firefighter for 23 years and saw the importance of both in that time.
