Steve (Redding) and I have put together an online petition website, where you can let the powers that be know that you won't be using their food & drink outlets.
I'm the ideas man, Steve makes it actually work properly, so thanks to him for his skills and efforts.
Please add your name - we have done it so the running total is of departures from Dalaman rather than individual names. That is the important figure, if you depart from Dalaman 4 times a year you are 4 lost customers, not one. Similarly, if you sign up and are a family of 3, it is 3 lost passengers, not just the one adding their name.
Please support, please tell everyone you know and other Turkey/travel websites you may frequent to give their info and experiences, and PLEASE keep it accurate and honest.
One last bit of thanks - to that tight git Mr. Crabbit, who gave me the domain name a while back. Sorry Dave, but people need to know that the tight sod routine is just an act :)
And the rather splendid website you need to go to is:
http://www.dalaman.co.uk
Thanks, let's see if we can make a difference.
-
And I claim the prize for the first typing mistake in comments, what a goose
-
I claim the 2nd prize for correcting it....these ideas men...tut!
-
I am an ideas man and project planner, I know exactly what needs to go where and how it should be written - bloody useless without a good coder ;)
Enough of this back slapping, get over there and sign up :)
-
Well done kieth.
-
All done, nice one boys 8) ;)
-
Had my say, thanks for the chance to do so.
-
An ideas man and an expert.
Well I consider myself a worker(bit like a bee)
I have signed and advertised the link on three Turkish sites.
might infiltrate a few more if I have time:D
-
Done.
-
:)Done and dusted. ;)
-
Scunner and Redding
I thought you might like to see the feedback from the other sites.
I don't go to Dalaman, but I go to Bodrum and it is the same there! Scandalous! No sense to it at all! I hope that this Petition does some good!
Mags xx
The prices are ridiculous at all Turkish airports (even the none touristy ones)
Its a last ditch atempt to extort money from us as we leave.... I doubt a petition will change anything. Lets face it where ever we are in the world - if its convenient or you have no choice to go elsewhere the prices are always hiked up - plan ahead b4 entering the airport.....
SY
The people organising this petition live in Turkey. One is the owner of Calis Beach forum. Another member of this forum has met with the managers of Dalaman airport to raise concerns and relay peoples disatisfaction.
All they are asking is that you sign the petition and help them get listened to. They are doing the leg work.
Please support them
Heather

Redding lol
Thanks Heather, which sites are they?
-
It is a shame because KKOB, DID make the effort of getting in touch with the powers that be at the airport to let them know what the reaction on the ground is, although it looks as if the extortionate prices are across the board at all Turkish airports.

and "A Womans World"
-
Just lasted 20 minutes on Holiday Truths before being deleted [:o]
They will "review" it apparently.
It's about holidays and it's true, where's the bloody problem
-
I would hazard a guess, Advertising, and Advertising of another forum.
Didnt you read the Rules[:o)]

Advertising something that costs me money, that's rich :)

In the interests of "the cause" i will decline to follow that order Scunner
-
Most people in Fethiye area who go on forums know CBF anyway. Those who are from the other areas that use Dalaman - Marmaris etc., probably don't and won't be interested anyway.

LOL fair enough
-
Well done Keith and Steve. Let's hope we can make a difference
-
Well done - I do hope this makes a difference OR at least makes them think.
I had LOADS more to say but you don't give enough space.
Then again I do go on....& on..........& on..............Etc.
-
Well done Keith and Steve. Good Job
Frank
-
Good idea and I have signed BUT we could risk a backlash by banning food and drink being taken into the airport. I hope they will however listen to reason. Duty free prices at Dalaman I find acceptable. :)
-
:)Just have to say we are diabetics on a special diet. :o
-
get the tour reps on board, then if we all don't buy there but take our own grub they will get the message, I think they think we are all loaded.
-
:)Yeh agree, I think they think we're all loaded too, just dont get it do they. ;)

Not sure if its still the same arrangement but a couple of years ago I managed a hotel where we had a contract with First Choice. The times I met up with the FC transfer teams at Bodrum Airport (when we were doing private transfers to the hotel) I witnessed the tour operators getting significant discounts over the normal prices.
Anyway, it's a great idea to get this going and hopefully it will make a difference.
-
Done! hopefully the powers that be will take note.
-
24 hours and over 1560 passengers.
1560 is a good figure - that equates to exactly 10 full Easyjet Airbus A319's - by far their most used plane :)
-
Well done to you both and I am glad you are getting the response you deserve
-
:)How many votes can you do from 1 e.mail address.:P.
-
As many as you like, they don't get added :)
We don't want any dubious figures, the real ones will be good enough I am sure.
-
Well done and thanks to all for adding your details ... to the others signup now www.dalaman.co.uk
-
Done
-
another section in todays [ 17 th nov ] daily mirror re dalaman rip offs
-
Have just signed up thanks for the good work
-
Howzit to the team leaders. Good job and I'm sure the message will eventually get across, it need too. I bought a 500ml bottle of water in October for 4ytl and the chap that served me felt guilty about it when I told him what a rip off. If those within start to feel bad that should help the cause too, if they are allowed to have a voice.
Cheers Mr Pookie
-
Only 2 days and already over 2000 journeys :)

-
You're famous Keith, letter published in today's Daily Mirror:
-
Bloody hell [:o]
I didn't actually write to a letter to the Daily Mirror, I sent an email to the Mirror guy who did the original article.
I am shocked, they didn't reply or anything [:o]
Who cares, that will help :D
Thanks for posting it Col
-
Fantastic - shame it did not win the £200 letter of the day..lol
-
Nearly at 4,400 now and at last we get our first stupid submission!
So sorry, Frank "Spenser" from "Timbuktoo" - what a waste of time for you, they don't get added.
What a wally.
-
..and there was me impressed at how honest the people were so far. Most can't spell...but their honest :o)
-
I hope you included yourself in the can't spells:D:D:Doops :)
-
I sent the web site address to all my friends and family who are coming to visit, so hopefully another load of signatures to be had. Keep up the good work
-
Damn....still can't see where my spelling error is though!
-
There isn't one.
A grammatical error :)
Maths and grammar, not Steve's best subjects :D
There, their, they're
-
Ah.....now that's different.
Now, lets get back to the petition.....it 'aint gonna' make a difference without everyone's support! ;o)
-
On the search engine front, good news - www.dalaman.co.uk is already number 1 at Yahoo for "Dalaman Airport"
calis-beach.co.uk is also number one at Google for "expat knobheads"
-
Only Google?
-
I went to the food outlets last summer and spoke with the Managers. I asked them why their prices were so ridiculously high and got the same answer from all of them. Quite simply, ATM who manage the airport take 60% of the takings from the outlets and that's why the prices are so high. I wrote to them complaining on behalf of the readers of Land of Lights but alas no reply has been received. Just thought you might be interested. We always tell visitors to take food and drink with them to the airport unless they can take out a second mortgage to pay for food!
-
I can`t understand why the "voice of the people" hasn`t mentioned it in her column.
-
The petition?
Maybe she will :)
-
My wife and I refuse to eat,or drink there, because of the prices. Why don't they realise that if the price is reasonable, people will buy?
-
todays daily mirror has another small section on dalaman airport prices ect seems word is still making the news well done to you all involved
-
If you haven't 'signed' the petition yet then please do so
Lets see if we can push it past 5000 this weekend www.dalaman.co.uk
-
8) Front page news of the Fethiye Times, Mr Scunner 8)
:) Congratulations to all involved ;)
-
Couldn't agree more, just a rip off. We travelled to Northern Cyprus recently,(Kibris), flew into and out of Ercan Airport. Large mug of xpresso coffe served by very friendly staff, just 4 YTL. The cafe was very well populated, many people eating and drinking. Sorry should have checked the price of Effes and other items. Dalaman airport £4.00 for the same item, well nearly, coffee usually served in a small paper cup!! Dalaman airport have typically just converted YTL to Pounds
-
cost 50 million dollars to build the new terminal and the company who footed the bill have only 9 years to get the return back tall order, and may well effect landing costs as well as drinks.
-
:)I wonder what effect all the publicity will have this year, I hope we will see a change in prices but would'nt hold my breath, it will be interesting to see what developes. ;)
