No rain 10 mins ago, but the scene looking out to Red Island:

Then

And now, it's hammering down

Sorry about the little camera shake, I was scared lol

Dramatic photos! We are having our fair share of nasty weather in UK too. I hope the roof on my turkish house stays on!

It's the roofs (rooves?) in Rhodes that should be worried about - I reckon the vertical bolt in the photo may well be a direct hit.

Jacx, I am luckily enough to be in Calis and love thunderstorms as well despite the inevitable power failures!

:o  Scarey stuff.  Yup, I'd be under the bed too.  Mr Pookie loves thunderstorms and stands on the balcony watching them.   Strange Man. 8)

the photos are fantastic and make me glad NOT to be in Calis for once! Its grey and miserable here but its not biblical like it is there. When do you expect the plague of locusts?

Scunner,

Did you use a single lens reflex with a 50mm lens and slow shutter speed - or was that a lucky shot?:D

Stoop

ps - before all you camera buffs jump in I know those settings would not produce that picture ;)

Confession time  :-\

I used Mrs Scunner's £29.99 Praktika digital camera (any more technology is wasted on her lol) because it was to hand.

The battery was dying and the lightning photo was about one second after pressing the button.

So, using my immense photgraphic skill with fully charged batteries, I would have missed it  :)

I'm no David Bailey either 'point and shoot' I can just about understand that, anything else is way too technical for me!! [8)]

I just stumbled on this topic, maybe newer members haven't seen it, or indeed seen Calis when it isn't wall to wall sunshine and blue skies. Check out page 1...

That was the first November we lived here and it was a total shock because I think it rained through most of it and I couldn't get any washing dry (something I  had never imagined being an issue).  Stunning photos.

Fantastic pics, I love a good storm...would rather be there in snow, wind, rain, sun, hailstones, thunder, lightening, freezing cold etc etc etc than here :-((

Wouldnt that be beyond any distance for a reflective vision bearing in mind the humidity effect and the Curvature of the Earth coupled with the Raki I just drank  :)  :)
