Title: BBC Prime Codes

Anyone cracked the strange codes that have begun to appear on the programme descriptions on the info pages ?

Are they secret messages for us from Auntie Beeb ? If I've got to rise up, I need at least a fortnight's notice and a stiff drink ! :D

As my father worked for the BBC all his life, I can answer this with some knowledge.

It is "Digital Broadcast Coding" (DBC) and decoded and translated into lay terms for you, means "Do you know how beer is made yet".

Ah, well, in the years that I've been out here I've now learnt all about the making of Beer, Paper, Flour, Glass, Bottles, the History of Shoes, Hats, Hair, Edinburgh, York, Bath, Oxford, Louis Armstrong, Marilyn Munroe, James Dean, The Royal Family etc etc and all thanks to good ol' BBC Prime.

What proportion of the licence fee is allocated to this tripe-channel?
Not that bothered if no-one knows 'cos i don't have to pay it anymore.:D:D:D

Actually, BBC Prime is an independently run company, and apparently isn't supported by licence fees.

But there are no adverts, how does it survive?
If it had adverts it would be more watchable !!!!!!!

I reckon the codes relate to the subtitle languages available via teletext - at least on the DigiTurk service.
