Title: bank details scam ?
Post by: sugarybaba on January 13, 2008, 22:05:31 PM
over the last couple of weeks I have had emails from LloydsTSB (who I have never banked with) and Abbey National (who I still have accounts with)  to say that there has been possible fraudulent activity on my account and that my accounts will be "limited" until I contact them and confirm my details    Think this is very scammy as the last email said from Abbey Nationa_ Plc not Abbey National PLC

Just wondering if anyone else had said emails  - would be interesting to know

NEVER go to a bank website by clicking a link in an email. If the bank is one you use, and you are unsure, go to your bank's website and log in. Email links can take you wherever they want you to go.

:)I am so suspicious about any money transfer on line, I have only ever booked a flight, but some of these opinion polls ask some dodgy questions to try and trick you, I think. ;)

All my banks state categorically that they DO NOT contact customers by e mail. I've been getting loads from Nat West, who I have never banked with. They are directed to spam by McAfee and accompanied by a pfishing warning. I am often tempted to reply with a resounding f**k off -- but I don't [:(!]

We must have received at least 30 of these bank scam emails in the last 3 months, most of wish supposedly from banks we've never banked with. The main clue is that they never address the email with your name, but 'dear customer'. They are always threatening to cancel your internet banking if you don't give them your details. Please be careful !!

There is a new one from Garanti (sucks) bank that comes via text message.
You get a text which appears from garanti bank saying that you have just done a 200 lira transaction and to confirm that you should send you pin number and mothers maiden name.
